"As many times as I have gone to Fort Bragg, I believe this is the first time I've stayed at Surf Motel ever. I was pleased with the check in process no hiccups in our reservation the young gentleman at the counter was efficient and polite explained everything in detail. The exterior was well maintained, manicured, and parking areas were clear and easy to read the building itself looked a bit vintage(dated) but cute. The interior of the rooms was a pleasant surprise usually hotel rooms have an overwhelming perfume deodorizing smell. This smelled clean but didn't have to take an allergy pill to stay in the room. the fridge/freezer combo works well didn't try the microwave or coffee pot the coffee pot was a traditional type not a Keurig type but looked clean. The bed comfort was average not horrible not amazing if you know what I mean but the linens were clean, soft and snuggly. The shower was updated tile walk in style with cute the tile border is one I wanted for my house at one time give a feel of a satellite view of the coast outlines at least in my mind) Toiletries were the traditional eco-friendly on the wall type. The breakfast provided was packaged muffins, fresh toast option and cereal along with fresh fruit and coffee perfect option for a quick bite before you go. I will stay at the Surf again next time will try the pet room when we bring our Corgis with us"

"As a historic hotel it doesn’t feel anywhere close to how old it actually is, the room sizes are good and nothing in them felt dated, it’s well kept up. Everything was cleaned well (as a former housekeeper I was impressed) and I had no qualms about using anything. The front desk was more than willing to answer any questions-it was nice that someone was there at almost any hour. The parking lot out back being locked from 12-6am was a nice feature. I love that they decorate for holidays it’s so fun!"

"Had a great stay. Staff were helpful even providing locked storage for my bike. Breakfast was good, especially for travelers that wanted to get on the road. Room was clean and quiet. Bathroom needed a bit of maintenance attention. Overall what I needed after a long day of driving."

"The refurbished room was nice. The room looked toward the storage unit place next door so I could not look out to see my vehicle. Whenever someone walked past my 2nd story room, the floor shook. I could here what the people outside were talking about. All in all, a good place to crash when on a road trip."
