"Excellent value! Room was pleasant, clean, large, and also had conveniences that I did not need for this particular stay, but usually like to find in hotel rooms."
"The room we stayed in (712) on June 1, 2026 did not have A/C but rather just a fan blowing warm air. The bathroom fan did not work either so my wife was getting ready in basically a sauna. The topper was that the toilet was plugged from the previous guests. I've been a CanadInns customer many times when my kids were younger but this was a real disappointment."
"If you love a rustic, quiet setting by the lake and not be annoyed by the lack of 'newness' or up-to-date appliances and amenities then this is the place for you. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay but only because of the setting. From my understanding this lodge/resort was sold fairly recently and is in the process of being updated. The main lodge is very modern and up-to-date but prices were out of our range. We also have 2 small dogs and I don't believe you can have dogs in the main lodge. We stayed in a 'cabin' type apartment which was very old. I believe the building was built in the early 1900's. Unfortunately, the room was very out of date, appliances very old. Television was even quite old. The water smelled terrible so it must be coming from a well or filtered through the lake. The room was clean just very rustic. HOWEVER, this DID NOT BOTHER us because of the setting. We are about 50 feet from Lake Bemidji which was BEAUTIFUL. Also because of the timing when we went in early June the mayflies were terrible but that is out of anyone's control. Food at the restaurant was pretty good. Standard fair at 'ok' prices. However do not get the Walleye fingers as they were terrible. The staff need a little better training. Not very many smiles or welcomes from employees working at the desk or in passing. A lot of 'stares' with blank faces. Needs some work and training. 2.5 / 5 stars.. Might seem low but if they worked on updating and some training."
"I expected more Rooms were average restaurant was disappointing Breakfast was not included We got a good breakfast at the gas station next door Also owned by the casino Perhaps we should have had dinner there"
SouthShore Hotel on Lake Bemidji, Trademark Coll by Wyndham
4/10 Poor
"Hotel roof currently under construction. In fact, the crane, dumpsters and construction crew were directly outside our window. YES, they worked over the weekend we stayed!!! Very noisy and disruptive!! I worked the overnight of our trip, so I had planned to sleep once arrived to hotel. Unfortunately, this was NOT possible! Not to mention, Bed mattress was literally like sleeping on concrete, way too FIRM!!!! Hips and back killing me to the point of making me physically ill morning after. Handicapped space limited due to construction equipment. Second night requested extra pillows, comforter for comfort to get through the second night’s booking. NEVER AGAIN!! I should have requested another room due to noise issues from construction. Curtains closed. Kept the A/C on to cover noise, but made room extremely cold to suffice through the stay.
Private beach was nice, but seating was NOT possible with the guest capacity of baseball teams and families visiting the area for tournaments. Elevator was malfunctioning and was stuck closed with occupants for 50+ minutes. Fire department had to assist in rescue efforts on Saturday 6/6/26.
Hotel does not have ice/water on every floor like other hotel chains do.
Pool, hot tubs, sauna, fitness very nice and clean! There is also a kiddie pool which is a nice feature for guests visiting without children. After hours for adults is a nice option, but 9 p.m. would be more accommodating for older adults who retire earlier to their rooms.
