Astil is a quiet and very comfortable hotel.
Very close to train station. Note that you shall take the local train. The others do not stop.
For Kyoto and Kobe you go one stop to Juso sration and transfer.
The best way to go from airports is airportbus to Umeda and then train.
The rooms do not have bathtubes since the hotel has a nice onsen bath. If you like med do have tattos you are not able to use the bath.
That is common practice in Japan and has nothing to do with the hotel.
I liked my stay a lot.
Hotel is like 2 min walk from the subway. The rooms did the job and they had such good amenities. Free coffee, water and tea. And the Onsen was so nice after walking all day. Get a hotel next to the subway so you have access to everything.
Very underrated hotel, stayed here in 2018 when I came to see the cherry blossoms with my mom and again in 2023 on a trip with my fiancé. The room and hotel is very tiny but for $50-60 a night I can't complain. There was hardly any other foreign tourists it was mainly Japanese business men and locals all around which was a breath of fresh air coming from Tokyo which was overcrowded with rude tourists. The station was just a street away which I loved as well. I want to come back again
I really liked this place. Part of it is because of the great ramen shop around the corner, part of it is because it was just... Chill. Everything was clean, the front desk was very helpful, and the food was enjoyable. It's a only couple hops away from Shin-Osaka station, and it doesn't take too long to get to Osaka Castle, if that's your destination. Overall, a great little place to stay.
Room size was just right for one person. It was cleaned promptly throughout my stay. Just a few stops away from Umeda station, so it is convenient for travelling while situated in a quiet area. Plenty of shops around if you need anything.
Room smelled when we first got it. Laundry is not in the hotel as advertised and is down the street at a laundry mat. Also found some bed bugs in our bedsheets.
The hotel was quite good. It was located next to a metro station and next to shopping street, surrounded by 3 convenient stores. The hotel was petite and the room was quite small. The public bath was small but functional. The staff was great and helpful. The parking lot was two blocks away from the hotel and you could get free parking once you show the front desk the parking ticket. One more thing - the breakfast only provided very limited choices of food.
I had really pleasant one week stay in this hotel, and will most definitely stay there again. There's lost of shops, restaurants & convenience stores around for you daily needs, and really close to Mikuni Station wich could take you mostly anywhere. And as everywhere in Japan, the area is super safe. If the rooms are bigger, this hotel would qualify to a 4-star hotel.
My advice to foreigners is this area (Shin-Osaka) is very local, and most of this hotel's guest are Japanese travellers, there's not much with any English translation, there's is not one TV channel in English. Nevertheless I'm not there to watch TV and use Google translate camera, so all and all it's a great place to stay.
A recommendation to management, an English TV station would be nice, CNN, BBC or even NHK World.
Very disappointed in my experience at Astil Hotel Shin-Osaka at which I stayed from 7/11-7/15. All communication was through a Google translator as I don't speak Japanese.
My original reservation was for a smoking room. Upon check in, I asked if a non smoking room was available. The clerk confirmed I could be switched to a non smoking room (115). When I walked in, I was hit with an overwhelming musty damp odor.
After 2 nights, the smell was unbearable. I went to the front desk on the evening of the 13th and spoke with Miku (so she told me); I explained about the smell and my attempt to remedy it. She offered another room (106) down the hall and asked if it smelled the same. Since it would have been subjective to me, I asked if she would smell my original room. Thankfully she obliged and as soon as she smelled it, she motioned for me to gather my things.
Since I was travelling to Osaka via train next, I utilized the luggage transfer service as I had done from Tokyo to Osaka. On the 14th, Miku took all my information directly from my reservation on Expedia to fill out the form and while a gentleman co-worker advised her on procedure. It was scheduled to arrive at my Kyoto hotel on 7/15. The wrong address was written on the form and my luggage sent there. My new hotel's front desk supported me in straightening delivery out for 7/17- however the Astil said I needed to pay a forwarding fee and it was not their fault! Unnecessarily stressful and disappointing.
