The onsen (outdoor and indoor) are both incredible, the view is great but the hotel is a little bit old and not very sound-proof. Staff are friendly and food is great. Around 20 min ride from train station and shuttle bus available for booking. Many local travellers as well. Worth spending a day prior departure.
It's really authentic experience in Minamitei, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The most special part is that we got to see "Hotaru" close tot river near the onsen hotel.
Although the staffs could only communicate with simple English, they tried their best to accommodate our needs. I called to delay my boarding time of shuttle bus. I took some effort to get the message through, but they did it as requested.
This hotel is a traditional style lodging called "Ryokan" for Japanese people. Since it is a hot spring facility, there is no private bathroom for shower or bath. You have to use a large public bath where you could enjoy hot spring and the view of outside. No dinning room or restaurant in the facility. You order room service therefore it is quite expensive. Not much nearby, but good for hiking or hot spring. Since it is a traditional Japanese style lodging, you have to sleep on the floor, no bed. The room is spacious and clean. It was very loud during the evening till 10:30 pm since there was a karaoke contest in the hotel which has very poor shielding from the noise. The price for this hotel is on the high end. However, it may be worthy of the experience if you would like to know Japanese culture.
Traveled from Australia to Osaka decided to stay in the hills minamitei was the only available at that time cost $298aud for 2 people one night only included breakfast. Room was tradition which is nice and awesome view from our window. Staff where helpful and did well with explaining
But when the beds came out we knew they where going to be Japanese fountons on the floor but when laying on them they where worn and all you could feel was floor also the pillows where a rock hard bean bag. Was a long night also no shower in your room have go to communal shower rooms
If it wasn't as expensive wouldn't of minded but to pay so much and have the worst stay in our trip wasn't happy
