This is a panoramic shot of the Arthington Viaduct taken from the farmer's fields on the north side of the river Wharfe, just south of Castley in West Yorkshire. It is a sandstone 21-arch bridge spanning the Wharfe valley, engineered by James Bray for the Leeds and Thirsk Railway circa 1850. The structure of the viaduct is unelaborate but its simple geometry is breathtakingly beautiful. It is unusual in that it is built along a curved path.

"This was the second time that my Wife and .I have stayed here. The hotel is well appointed light and airy, clean and tidy. We were offered a room upgrade at a small cost which we took up. Room itself very nice with comfortable bed. Breakfast was buffet style with good selection. Staff all very pleasant and the location in easy reach of central Leeds. "

"We were attending an event at the Royal Amouries Museum and the hotel is perfectly located for this - just a couple of minutes walk from the main entrance. The room we had was very spacious with a large bed and sofa bed. Perfect for the three of us. The shower was powerful and had the addition of shampoo and body wash. The room was clean and had everything we needed for the one night stay. It was extremely quiet and the black out curtains meant we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was great too. A choice of six hot items as well as pastries and the coffee was good!"
