Dorisol Estrelicia Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel was a great location for us with walkable access to downtown Funchal (about 30 minute walk). Good restaurants nearby and downtown. Hotel is up on a hill (about 70 meters of considerable incline), so that was unexpected, but for us did not create an issue. Parking is limited at this property and we were not aware originally that you could reserve the parking ahead of time and for an additional fee (7 euro per day). The staff were very helpful however and offered off site parking to us nearby for the same fee. Again, not a problem for us, but may be an issue for some (150 meters away from the hotel). Rooms were standard (we did not have a balcony), but this is not a very new property, so there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Good breakfast with good options and fresh bread and buns everyday. The property also offers dinner options on site, but we chose to eat outside of the hotel. This was a good stay and we were thankful that when our flight got delayed we were able to stay at the hotel and our room for an additional night. The staff was helpful and even provided us with a kettle for our room (we did not bring our own as we came from Canada)."

"We love this property, the room, views from the room, the location, free parking, the restaurants & bars on site & especially the amazing staff! From check in to check out & all between, we had an amazing time & received top notch service. The staff was warm, friendly & gave so many great suggestions for things to do, see & where to eat. The gentlemen that runs the “Beer House” went above & beyond, he was so fun to chat with. The lady overseeing resort activities was also amazing. She made the activities so much fun. The views from the room were absolutely stunning, & the room itself comfortable & clean. The daily breakfast was plentiful & tasty. I highly recommend this resort for your stay in beautiful Porto Moniz & we personally can not wait to return. I will always choose Aqua Natura for our stay too! I can’t find one negative thing to say about this place."

"This property is immaculate, so clean & well kept inside & out. The staff was great, especially the gentleman that worked the lobby bar during our stay (I can’t remember his name), but he was just amazing. We had lunch one day & cocktails each evening & he made our stay so delightful, so helpful with suggestions around town & such a warm person. He made us feel so welcome & fun to chat with. The location is perfect & the breakfast buffet plenty. We also appreciated free parking. My one complaint is the bed, that was the hardest bed we’ve ever experienced. Like sleeping on a hard wood box, it was very painful & we honestly couldn’t sleep, which put a damper on our days exploring. If they could alter e bedding, this would literally be a perfect accommodation."

"This was our second visit to the Savoy Palace and we weren’t disappointed. The room was spotless and the daily cleaning service was very good; in addition, the turn down service was equally good. We ate at 4 of the restaurants at the hotel, each of which had a different style and feel, but the food and staff were excellent in all of them. The highlight was the Galaxy restaurant on the 16th floor. It deserves a Michelin star. We will visit the Savoy Palace again."

"The food at this hotel makes up for all the shortcomings! Obsessed with buffet food and Italian restaurant was great too. The only downsides of this hotel are the only two small elevators for the whole hotel and lack of entertainment. Other than that spa is good, massage is amazing. The covered pool is everything. Overall recommend this hotel "
