This campground is also located at the top of the Coromandel, but on the other side (there is no road at attaches them). As the name suggests, the beach itself is “stony” and surrounded by lush forest, streams and wildlife. There is a “secret” sandy beach just up the road that you have to bush walk to get to but it’s nice and secluded. There is a pack of ducks here that have obviously been fed too many times before and will chase you down when you first arrive, even if you haven’t fed them. They can hear the rustle of a chip bag from a mile away and literally come running towards you. And they will sleep outside your tent at night, follow you into the shower and wait for you at the bottom of the tree you’ve climbed up. They’re crazy! Good thing I like ducks. The campsite is at the beginning/end of the Coromandel Coastal Walkway which takes you to Fletcher Bay

A gorgeous sunset at our campsite in Long Bay. The sites were right on the bay and there were proper bathrooms with showers (and hot water). They also had a communal kitchen with stoves & a fridge but you had to bring your own pots/pans/plates. They also had couches and a big screen TV
