"Overall this is a nice place to stay if you just want to relax. We had a junior suite with a pool and did just BnB. Breakfast is good. Spa is good. Gym is good. Service regarding rooms could sometimes be hit and miss- we had to ask for the air con to be seen to on numerous occasions, the room to be cleaned a few times and there was one turn down service in 10 nights (just because we asked as we noticed it was supposed to be included (not that we particularly needed it). There is a small working village just outside the hotel with a handful of restaurants, supermarket, couple of convenience stores. A walk through the village takes you to the monastery which is worth a visit. The walk along the seafront is lovely with about 8 or so restaurants- all good, inexpensive, with beautiful setting. The beach at the hotel is just okay- it’s small, the hotel beach bar is good and convenient for the beach. I would not be going to this hotel for its beach. You have to walk across a car park littered with debris to get to the beach. Main pool area is very good and well maintained. It was a lovely temperature (in July). Tennis courts were good. Can’t comment on any evening entertainment or hotel restaurants."
"Staff was really friendly and fast. Food was also great and varied. Loved the cocktails and it was luxurious to be able to order to sun beds both at the pool and to the beach. Thank you!"
"It was an amazing experience at the resort. The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the beautiful pool area and beach.
A few small improvements would make the experience even more consistent with a five-star hotel: adding extra towel or robe hooks in the shower area, installing a hygienic shower in the bathroom, and providing a capsule coffee machine in the room.
The location is also very convenient—just a short taxi or bus ride from Platania, with many restaurants and shops. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!"
"We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this place. The staff were friendly, accommodating and the rooms were clean. We loved the gym, pool, pool bar and so much more. Will definitely stay here again!"
"Large clean room. Very nice and helpful staff. Beautiful beach with plenty of chairs. Good breakfast included. Easily walkable into town with great nearby restaurants, bakeries and stores. Had an amazing and relaxing stay here."
"We had a lovely, relaxing stay at the Galini Palace Resort Hotel. The overall atmosphere was calm and peaceful throughout, as the hotel is located in a quiet area away from the main tourist crowds.
The Highlights:
The absolute star of the hotel is the pool area - it is large, beautiful, crystal clear, and offers great view of the sea. The staff were also extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The food variety in the dining room was impressive, and while not every dish was to our personal taste, we always found plenty to enjoy.
Areas for Improvement:
There were a few minor issues that kept this from being a true 5-star experience:
Pool Hours: The pool hours are quite limited (10:30 AM – 6:30 PM). We felt it would be much better if it opened earlier and stayed open later in the evening, especially during the long summer days.
Room Amenities: For a 5-star hotel, we expected more luxury touches. For example there were no bathrobes, and it was disappointing to be charged an extra daily fee to use the room safe.
Maintenance & Cleanliness: The showerhead in our room was completely clogged. Also, there was a strange, strong smell of cleaning products in the hallway outside our room, which wasn't very pleasant.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful setting. With a little more attention to the small details and operating hours, it would be perfect."
"This hotel was special from the moment we arrived, 5 mins before the lunch buffet closed. We were invited to leave our luggage, enjoy the food and check in after. Once refreshed we were introduced to Katerina, a lovely Scottish lady who lives in Crete and has all the information you need to make the most of the hotel and this magical island. We were lucky to be given upgrades to ground floor suites (515 and 517) and they were superb, spacious and extra touches like towel animals and complimentary minibar made our stay (for a family wedding) very special indeed.
The hotel is perfect for families and never felt crowded. There were plenty of sunbeds and its selection of pools kept all ages happy. We thought the food was very good for a hotel of this size, particularly breakfast and the lovely salad bar. The à la carte Greek restaurant is located on the waters edge and is excellent though we were less impresssd by the Asian restaurant.
Chania is a beautiful Venetian town with a huge selection of restaurants and narrow streets to wander through. It’s a shame the hotel is just a little too far out to make frequent visits practical. The bus leaves from the stop outside the hotel (once an hour in our experience), takes 40 mins and costs €2.80 per adult each way. A taxi takes 20 mins and costs €30 each way or €50 for a larger minivan for our party of 4 adults and a baby.
For a relaxing hotel-based family holiday this hotel is hard to beat, I’d love to return!"
"All inclusive and very chill. Food in main resteraunt in my opinion was very good, though some of the resteraunt dinning experiences were lack luster and would not do again. Very good for families though would be.nicer if had a program for children. At this point would recommend, though construction is a bit poor and in a few years may be run down. Had ants on balcony on third floor coming from crack in structure, and saw lots of little deterioration of the property."
