Our recent stay at the MARGARITEVILLE ISLAND RESERVE Riviera Maya Adults Only All Inclusive Resort was highly enjoyable. The property's cleanliness, meticulous landscaping, and manageable size contributed to a positive experience. Accessibility was excellent, with convenient navigation throughout the resort via a rented mobility scooter, facilitated by numerous elevators and safe ramps. This feature is particularly significant, and we anticipate returning to this resort in the future. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness were noteworthy. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the beds were comfortable. A potential area for improvement is the limited availability of handicapped-accessible rooms, with only one such room currently offered at a premium rate. While the staff provided a shower chair and grab bar in the shower, the addition of a grab bar in the restroom area would further enhance accessibility. The food choices were excellent and the wait staff were extremely friendly.

The staff was very friendly. however a few things I noticed, (1) check in is not until 3pm and they hold firm so no matter what time you arrive and no matter if there are rooms available plan to hang out at the bar or outside restaurant because you will not get in your room until 3. (2) the food is okay, I have had better Tacos at home, and there are not many options. Lastly, and most importantly, if you are looking for a beach vacation, just simply pick somewhere else! the Sargassum here is horrible and the smell is worse! There is no beach at this resort. The 4stars is for the resort itself, the room was beautiful, the staff is stellar and the resort grounds are well kept! The pools are great!
It was so clean, convenient and beautifully decorated. Staff was wonderful with making us feel safe and welcomed. Everything was so close on the property. Great food and drinks. Julio, who was our concierge, was amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure all went well.
The only thing we didn't like were the sargassum, but not the hotel's fault, and the Italian Restaurant- only place we did not get good service- felt ignored. We would stay here again definitely!!! Thank you!!!
This is a terrible all inclusive resort. Could not get reservations for steakhouse or Italian until 9:30 at night unless you upgraded to members - not fair! We should be able to eat at a decent time regardless without paying more. We tried to reserve the minute we got there (Thursday) and nothing available until Saturday at 9:30pm.
No beach- although they advertise sandy beach. Smelled horrible due to the sargassum. Terrible smell. Pools looked dirty and had brown film everywhere. People were having a hard time getting out of the pool without slipping due to this. This also meant there was no snorkeling or kayaking because you could not get into the water so all of their advertising for water recreation that is supposed to be included in the price was not available.
A lot of of the staff was unfriendly. Not all of them, but a lot of of them.
We bought an excursion and weโre told it would leave at 8 AM. We got to lobby at 8 AM and weโre told it would not leave until 9:50 AM so we sat around for two hours. They were late picking us up. We did Zipline, ATV and swimming hole. The group they put us with had horseback riding although we were not offered horseback riding so we had to sit at the excursion for an hour and a half waiting on the rest of the group in order to be taken back to the hotel. Wasted half of one of our days at the resort due to wrong leave time and waiting in group. Not cool.
I would not recommend this resort. Very disappointed. Be warned.
Es la segunda ocasiรณn que me hospedo en este hotel y si se nota la diferencia tristemente ya que me gustaba mucho este hotel. Mi primera vez fue hace 2 aรฑos.
En primer lugar el check in fue muy equis, la persona que nos atendiรณ ni bueno ni malo solo se limitรณ a colocar brazaletes y un poco de informaciรณn de la propiedad, no se presentรณ, no nos confirmรณ la categorรญa de habitaciรณn solo que las habitaciones no estaban listas y listo siguiente huรฉsped, a comparaciรณn de la primera vez que los visitรฉ donde me acuerdo que nos pasaron a una salita del lobby donde nos hicieron el check in y la Srita que nos hizo el check in y nos explicรณ todo muy amable.
Habitaciones ok, lo normal ya lo conocรญa y sabรญa que esperar, habรญa solicitado que nos asignaran en habitaciones cercanas lo cual cumplieron aunque sabรญa que era sujeto a disponibilidad.
Es espantoso el olor a sargazo acumulado en la playa, entiendo que es algo natural y no hay mucho que el hotel pueda hacer pero es horrible todo huele, pensรฉ que podrรญa aguantarlo pero es demasiado. Y lo peor fue nuestra retirada del hotel que fue lo peor y terminรณ de arruinar mi experiencia, tratamos de tomar un cafรฉ y nos dijeron que no se podรญa, les mostramos nuestros pases de salida y nos reiteraron que no se podรญa, externamos los nuestro disgusto en recepciรณn donde dijeron que supuestamente nos tenรญan que poner unos brazaletes de papel lo cual nunca mencionaron al check out, decidimos retirarnos para ya no disgustarnos mรกs.
We had an overall good stay, But there were some issues. The staff was amazing. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, Start to finish. We had two swim out suites. One of our rooms was perfect. The other, had air conditioning issues, plumbing issues and when we were given access to the room, we opened the door to a maintenance person spraying for bugs. So we had to wait to across the room for an hour, and it then smelled of chemicals for the next day, even after housekeeping came to re-clean the room. Every time we did need maintenance (which was three times in our four day stay) they always came quickly and solved our issues. The rooms and facilities were very clean and house keeping came by every evening to see if we wanted turndown service and needed any extra towels. They will try to sell you on their vacation club. But will give you discounts on excursions or spa services to listen to an hour presentation. The restaurants were good, the event staff was fun. We had fun dancing at landshark with the live music and DJ. The points system for in room snacks was awful. They had shakers and set up for making drinks at your mini bar in room, but the points given didnโt go towards liquor or mixers in Joe Merchants. That was extra $. The only snacks offered to use points on were tiny bags of chips, three choices of soda, or beer. More options would be nice to spend your mini bar points on. We had 11000 per room and neither of us were able to spend them all.
Staff were great, food was flavorful, and the property was beautiful and well-maintained. Beach access was disappointing, though. There was only a small stretch of sand between the resort and the water - which during our visit was completely covered with seaweed. :( Still, the pools and lounge chairs sufficed and we had a blast!
The JWB steakhouse had terrible meat. Maybe if I paid the extra $50 for a decent cut it would have been edible. Frank & Lolaโs sent what it was last year at the other Margaritaville. Landshark was the saving grace along with the taco bar. The serving staff and all the workers were excellent. Fix the โreservationโ restaurant food and the smelly seaweed, and it would be perfect.
1st off, the "regular" staff is great at this resort. The drinks are good and plentiful, the food is good, the coffee house is nice in the morning (even though it doesn't open at 7), and we enjoyed the Landshark bar/brewery. We also stayed during the sargasm/seaweed invasion. It created a foul/bad smell that to some in our party caused numerous gag reflexes in the morning as we tried to reacclimate ourselves each day. This is something that the resort has no control over. The rooms did a good job of filtering the foul outside air. We had a room with the Infinity pool. It is ocean view, but not ocean front. Our room actually had a musty/mildew 'ish' smell. Probably due to people tracking water into the rooms from the pool. I was very sensitive to it, but my wife thought it was OK. NOW....for the most negative part of the stay..... the concierges. These people are not there to help you! They are there to sell you into their "Vacation Club". Just ask my son. He received 3 phone calls too early in the morning! Plus, we would try to book a reservation at the JWB steakhouse, or the Italian restaurant only to be told that it was booked, full, or the computers were locked out, or that it would be available for 2 days after our departure. It was very frustrating to feel coerced into attending a 1-2 hour high pressure sales meeting (which we did not). If you are persistent and try multiple times, you will eventually get into the steakhouse & Italian restaurant.
Wonderful experience! Jaime the concierge was so helpful in some talented scheduling and made sure our group got to do everything we wanted to. Every staff member was polite and helpful. Lots of dining options. Super clean property!
The place didn't have a beach and the seaweed left a foul smell in our room. Also our room was right above landshark so at night we could hear all the music until 1am
We had a nice time here for a week. Unfortunately theirs is no beach. Staff friendly , drinks and bar service good. Steakhouse was not good. Frank and Lolaโs was excellent. Overall food was great.
