Really enjoyed my time at Selina hostel ! This is my second time to come back there as they are so friendly , clean , clients oriented and very welcoming team ! I highly recommend it ! And already coming back next Monday again .
One of the best hostels! The dining options were great, the room clean, guard on duty (it's Brazil....). Pretty building. I was able to walk everywhere I needed to go.
The staff are wonderfully helpful (and speak English!). They accommodated an early check in for us and allowed us to store our bags after check out due to a late departing flight.
Definitely recommend!
They have a bar on the rooftop with DJ, magnificent view of Lapa in the night, sometimes they close the bar at 10:30pm, you have a welcome drink from 5:00pm to 5:30pm so don't be late.
It’s a awesome hotel they have a kitchen so you can cook and save money a library my room didn’t have hot water but maybe that’s normal in Brazil the area is kinda scary to walk around at night but in the day time is pretty safe
The staff were super lovely and the property is in a good location.
The rooms are nice but I think we were just a bit unfortunate to get one without a working extractor fan which made the room a bit damp and smelly... we did let them know but we were only there for a short time!
Wifi was good
Kitchen could do with a few more spoons!

Liked: Cleanliness
I like the room. It was thoughtfully decorated and very clean. I didn’t find the staff very helpful or pleasant. It was like I was bothering them whenever I’d ask for information. It was the other guests who helped me when needed. The kitchen only had 2 spoons, no bowls, and 2 cups. I think it’s important to let people know that the Lapa area, at least near the hotel, has a lot of homelessness and people addicted to substances. I think having a Welcome Session to inform guests about the property, location, and public transportation options would be very helpful.
Unwelcoming registration. No information given, just a sheet to fill in and then you're on your own !
The morning staff were nicer than the evening staff. Breakfast was unremarkable and not very tasty.
I think there was a water infiltration problem in the 3rd floor, and the whole floor smelled of damp including the room, it was horrible. As I only stayed one night, I didn't complain.
The hotel is well located, right in the center, but in the evening it's not very safe in the surrounding streets.
