This is a great hotel to be right in the center of activity in Rio Lagartos. Our top story room had a full 180° view of the waterways used by the fishermen and guides of the area. The old downtown area is close by and walkable. The staff was fantastic!

Room access was slightly difficult on top floor with rickety steep and narrow stairs. Some animal noises in the thatched roof at night. Parking was a little sketchy. Staff person was helpful but spoke no English at all.

a pleasant surprise! well located, over the malecon, whit a nice restaurant at each side. I know what a five star hotel is! But here you get wath yo call a nice location. and center of action for exploring the surroundings. A trip to the pink waters. to see the flamingos. the ibis, egrets , herons, alligator, pelicans. I strongly recommend this nice hotel!

Horrible stay; images show false advertising

My friend and I had an absolutely horrible stay here, the worst of our two weeks in Mexico by far. There were stains on our bed sheets, dead flies on shelves, no hot water, and the boiler and electrical wires were hanging out from the bathroom walls. The bathroom smelled terribly, had no air circulation (no fan or window), the tap was very rusted, and the sink was stained. Mould was growing in the corner of the bedroom. Service was also non-existent. We had no toilet paper, towels, soap or shower products when we arrived. It appears staff also didn't know how the bedding was supposed to be arranged, as the mattress protector was on top of the bed sheets. When we pointed things out to reception, the man was very uncommunicative and unhelpful. After lots of back and forth, he finally came with some toilet paper and shower towels - which we couldn't use anyway as the water was freezing. This place should not be advertising on Hotels.com. It does not come anywhere near meeting basic accommodation standards, does not follow hygenic practices, and the images used to promote the hotel are not reflective at all of the terrible condition it's in. Thankfully we only had one night here!

Running water was hit and miss; rarely had any; and there was absolutely no hot water. A Dog next door barked continuously. Given 1 towel with a sachet of cheap shampoo and a small bar of soap. The Receptionist doesn't speak English and sims dont really work and wifi is not great so take a phase book if you don't speak Spanish. Door lock is very hard to work. Separate WiFi for the cabins but the receptionist only gives out the wifi for the lower ground, make sure you ask for it. Flimsy curtains so light filters in. There is nowhere to put your clothes. There is a safe and fridge in the room.

Si vous avez la chambre face a la lagune, c’est tres sympa. Attention, c’est propre mais roots ! Pas d’eau chaude… qui peut sentir fort. Mais les lits sont confortables et c’est propre. Perso j’ai vraiment bien aimé !

Super süße Unterkunft in Rio Lagartos, direkt am Wasser. Wir haben die Unterkunft für eine Nacht gebucht und das schöne Zimmer mit direktem Meerblick sehr genossen. Es ist sicherlich eine eher „einfache“ aber dennoch besondere Unterkunft mit deren Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis wir super happy waren. Kommunikation auf Englisch etwas schwierig und abends treffen sich viele Leute vor dem Hotel zum Angeln, weshalb es etwas lauter ist, was uns aber nicht gestört hat. Wir denken gerne an unseren Aufenthalt zurück.

La persona que atendió fue amable. Pero no hubo luz hasta horas después, decía que agua caliete y nunca tuvimos agua caliente. En la noche nos fuimos a descancar y hubo ruido toda la noche de un bar que está junto.

Nada que ver a las fotos, los cuartos huelen mal, la regadera es eléctrica y da mucho miedo el agua nunca sale caliente y sale como si te bañaras con una karcher, no agarra el internet nunca nos llegó la señal muy feo la verdad

La ubicacion es muy buena, la habitación panorámica tiene una vista excepcional, el unico inconveniente fue que en mi estancia se fue la luz en el hotel prácticamente todo un día. Tampoco hay agua caliente en la habitación o al menos no hubo mientras estuve, la atención de los que atienden es buena.

Outstanding Views

We booked the panoramic cabana. The room was very nice and the view breathtaking. We were able to watch flamingo's, crocodiles (yes one swam right in front of our room) and sunsets off the balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped us book a flamingo tour which I would highly recommend. There weren't as many flamingos here as in Celestun, but there were a lot of other birds and an abundance of crocodiles. The only caution I would give to anyone booking the panoramic cabana is that there are steep steps getting to he room. I would highly recommend Hotel el Faro.

Great!

Super clean, stylish, and comfy rooms with hot water. Two steps from the port and meeting points for the boat excursions. One of the best seafood restaurants next door. I can fully recommend!

Cute room / Friendly front staff

The hotel is just in front of the port which we liked. The room is small and basic, but it was totally fine and since our room was on the top floor(3rd), we had like a straw roof which was cute. The only downside is that you hear noise since early morning as it's facing to the port, so you might struggle if you are sensitive to noise.

Cómodo y buen servicio

Todo muy bien con el hotel. Tiene una excelente ubicación, el personal es muy atento y las habitaciones son cómodas. El pueblo es pequeño y se puede caminar todo el tiempo. Muchas actividades para realizar en los alrededores. Muy recomendable llevar suficiente efectivo ya que los cobros con tarjeta fallan mucho.
