“Regular visitor Always a pleasure to return”

“What an absolute find, a true revelation. Okay, Newport itself may not be the most salubrious of towns, but the Mercure Hotel is in a league of its own. The hotel is situated right in the town centre, very close to the Friars Walk Shopping Centre and it’s undercover 24 hour car park. We parked there for 2 nights, a 5 minute walk to the hotel, and only cost just over £15. The hotel itself, looks a relatively new building from the exterior, it was in fact built in 1966. “The food was good”

“Set in beautiful grounds with friendly and welcoming staff. Great breakfast and facilities. Room was well appointed but was a bit dark and dated. The window’s double glazing had blown. ”

“The hotel isn't sound proof at all. It's a hotel made out of a large house. While i was staying, it sounded like the guys next door were in my room because i could hear their every step and chat and felt really insecure because of that. The bathroom and toilet are shared which i didn't expect at all. At least they are kept clean and there's daily cleaning service. The room had a basin. There was no shower gaun though towels were provided. They had good heating on.”

“Lovely stay overall. This hotel has alot of character and is set above Cardiff with lovely views down to the bay. Staff were friendly and helpful. And the hotel was clean. Breakfast was excellent. ”

“We stayed here following a day of hiking and it was perfect. However it would also be a great place to stay for a more glamorous occassion too. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable bed and quirky interior. Food was incredible.”

“Good value hotel about a mile from the city centre. Doors are all combination so there is no worry about losing the key. Room had to be reprogrammed but the staff did this quickly and cheerfully. Very helpful and welcoming.”

“We booked a nights stay as we have recently booked our wedding at this hotel, we couldn't of asked for a better place to get married, rooms were excellent, spa was busy but it was valentine's weekend and the food was superb. We are more than happy to share with our family and friends after our nights stay”

“La collocazione è perfetta, con una passeggiata in un verso si arriva in centro, nel verso opposto al Newport Transporter Bridge. La struttura è nuova, pulita, sicura. Mi è stato gentilmente concesso il check in anticipato, cosa che non tutti fanno! L'unico aspetto che rivedrei sono le pulizie: bisognerebbe che le stanze venissero rifatte, se non proprio quotidianamente almeno ogni 2 GG...per brevi soggiorni ok, per quelli un po' più lunghi inizia ad essere un disagio! Per il resto perfetto!”

“Very friendly and helpful staff; the rooms are very comfortable and quiet. There's a nice bar and restaurant for evening meals (fish and chips is quite good). Breakfast is continental, but there is a nice variety of cereals and toast and other items. The internet was quite good, by British standards.”
