Convenient location on the water with nearby parking (just behind hotel across the road). Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Loved the unique decor that suited this historic venue. Would definitely stay again.

It was a lovely older building that was well maintained and had the best outdoor dining water-view. The dining/bar had great ambiance and the food was unique and delicious. They also had a free pickleball court usage near their property. The staff were happy and helpful. The only problem was a bit dampness feel to the room rug.

Staying at the Duke is an amazing experience. One of New Zealand’s oldest pubs on the beachfront in one of New Zealand’s oldest town. Well maintained and spotless rooms, ours had a great balcony - just the place for a G&T - before a leisurely dinner on the terrace looking out directly over the bay - with an excellent food and wine menu. Helpful, knowledgeable staff and great transport options add to the experience - free parking behind the pub or frequent passengers ferry services across the bay from Paihia. And all pretty affordable given the venue and the location.

The Room was clean and tidy, Bar excellent and restaurant good. The Canaduan Receptionist was excellent My only issue is the shower in the room, it had a fabric curtain which was clingy and extremely annoying and leaked water on to the bathroom floor. Fabric curtains are a product of the 70s and should remain there.. the hotel needs to upgrade to modern shower doors.
