The room was clean. I like the hot water. The room doesn’t require air conditioning. The staff was very nice and professional. The pool and waterfall were great! The food was excellent! The excursion to the Haitises park was adventurous. Our tour guide Wilfred made it fun and he was very knowledgeable.

Beautiful and worth the long drive!

We loved our stay at Altos de Cano Hondo. It is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We also loved the hotel guide Wilfred who took us on a great tour! The architecture of the hotel was wonderful, the food was basic but good and the scenery was beautiful. You should note that Altos Cano Hondo is the smaller sister hotel to the larger Paraiso Cano Hondo. They both share the same natural pools but you need to take a quick walk down from Altos to Paraiso to use the pools.

A unique, attractive, boutique-like facility with lots of attention paid to detail appearance. Very nice, stylish rooms. Excellent very helpful staff (limited English speaking). Somewhat “strange” partnership with neighboring facility where connecting ponds water features are located (a fair walk, especially the return uphill). Fairly isolated and difficult to get to with very limited activities.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, and we had a great room with a balcony and a fabulous view. The downside was the weather! We had so much rain, and everywhere was damp and muddy. A la carte restaurant meals were fairly good, but the dinner buffets (which we were forced to have on occasions) were not very inspiring. We also discovered to our cost that the hotel does not have any meaningful first aid supplies.

The property is beautiful, but needs major upgrading. the bathroom walls and ceiling was full of mold and hazardous for your health. They can bring more tourist if they cater to high-end tourist by up grading their facility.
