We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at hush, we were staying in a private room. We could see that there is an effort by staff management and the owner to provide an excellent experience for everyone present. We loved our stay here.
Great place to stay on the quiet outskirts of the beach and amazing views from your room straight to the ocean. 100% would recommend a stay here and the staff was very professional and friendly.

It was a nice hotel with a nice view, just a bit hard to get to. Also, rooms did not have any AC, so that was a bummer. Overall nice hotel with beautiful views and staffs
This place is awesome. The staff are super friendly, the food is great, the pool and the deck are all Instagram worthy, and there's a path straight down to the beach that takes 10 min to walk(200ft of elevation I'd guess)
They'll set up surf lessons, a massage, and are very helpful.
The only detractors I can think of are that it's a little remote, and the water in the showers is a bit hard/salty. You won't regret staying here, the only problem is it'll make all the other places you stay pale in comparison.
The views from this hotel cannot be beat! From the dining area to the 360 rooftop area view, you’re surrounded by gorgeous green mountains and a view of the water. Due to it being a hilltop resort, walking to the beach is a slightly steep 15 minute walk, but totally worth it! I saw some of the other views complain about the drive up the hill, but it’s nothing bad compared to some of our other stays. One thing about the hill is that the only local “store” is a small shop at the bottom of the steep hill, with the closest restaurant being about a 15 minute taxi drive. Which leads to my first complaint: the menu and service hours. We were told food is served until about 8:30/9pm, but was actually done being served at 8 with no nearby food options available; so, early or you might be left without food. They were also out of most things on the menu, but the limited hours and selection could’ve been due to going in November.
My second complaint is the water quality; upon arrival we were warned not to let any of the shower or sink water enter our mouths, including brushing teeth and all that jazz. Therefore my boyfriend and I were skeptical of showering during our trip, and had to brush our teeth/wash our faces using my water bottle. It felt like we were camping, and the WiFi connection wasn’t too good in the rooms.
Overall the food was delicious and the views/proximity to the beach couldn’t be beat. Just plan accordingly for water supplementation and having backup food/snacks.

Almost Paradise. Just missing home comforts
This hotel as the one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. We stayed in the room with a 180 degree view and if only the room had hot water for the shower instead of luke warm water, a duvet instead of a single sheet and perhaps a nespresso machine with slippers and a bathrobe to use, this would have been a 5 star stay in what is essentially a hostel with 2 very nice private rooms.
The parking and drive up to the hotel are also not great… we witnessed one 4x4 driver hitting another car whilst trying to park and the potholes and ramps on the way up are very stressful to negotiate.
However, The staff are lovely and very accommodating. It’s just the small things that make a place comfortable and these small things were lacking. If the hotel addressed these, particularly the lack of hot water, then this would be paradise.
The hotel has beautiful views, wonderful staff (Tom and Marvin), and great food. It would be nice if hot water was available for showering. All of the water was salty as well. They didn’t have any blowdryers. Understood it is a hostel but for the higher cost of a private room, they should carry a few cheap ones at the front desk to borrow for guests of private rooms in case they need. A nice hostel I stayed at in at Lake Atitlan did this. The rooms on the rooftop get noisy if it’s windy. Minimal updates to the outdated fixtures can go a long way.
Great property, food is really good, it’s a walk to the beach. I only wish there was fresh water to shower in. Other than that we stay there when ever we go to San Juan del Sur…best property on
Maderas beach!

This place is a gem, super chill, great food, amazing staff. It is a bit rustic so you have to be okay with little hot water and no A/C, neither are really needed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. This will be a staple for future visits…

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
We were there in February 2024 and loved it. We were disappointed this time. The rooms were neglected like no one had been in them for a while. We had a dead scorpion under our dirty bath mat. Service was not near as good as last time. Staff need to be managed better.

The pool which on the hotel page seems nice and clear is darker and greener than the forestry around the property. Definitely felt catfished.
Wind was incredibly intense, and the windows were not capable of closing tight. Could not sleep AT ALL. NO AC in our room.

Pros: This is one of the best places to stay near Playa Maderas. The sunset views from the main area are out of this world and worth the stay alone. Great cocktails and Happy Hour deals. Carol and Jason were awesome. Close to the beach. Juan Carlos at the Rebelde Surf School nearby is one of the best surf instructors in the area, he taught me a lot. Great place to party if that's the vacation you're looking for.
Cons: very young and touristy environment. The food is good, it's just mostly burgers and pasta, which isn't really what I was looking for coming to Nicaragua. A lizard came out of my pillow case. Birds woke me up every day around 5am knocking on the glass windows, trying to get in. The ladies in the kitchen/bar area looked unhappy and seemed annoyed when we ordered breakfast - it was a little weird. One evening I asked the man who was working the reception night shift if he could make a quick call (my Spanish wasn't good enough to do so myself) to a place nearby to check on 2 friends to make sure they were ok and see if they needed a taxi back to Hush. He made it very clear it wasn't his problem and didn't care about the guests safety, which was a little disappointing.
Excellent hotel. Amazing facilities, lounging areas and views. Rather rough 15 mins walk to the beach, not quite beachfront. Warm water in the showers (not hot) and no fresh water in any of the faucets (filtered ocean water). The restaurant is amazing and the staff (David) are great! Overall great experience.
