Ability to upgrade free continental breakfast at great value. They have great food options to satisfy anyone. The bar staff was amazing. The view of the beach is amazing and so peaceful in the morning.

We loved our VIP suite. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We only had 1 issue was with the A/C, and it was resolved ASAP. We had air by afternoon. The staff was super from the shuttle service, reception, and wait staff to the maintenance, it was all fantastic. The only complaint was on the island itself. The roads were terrible and they need to be maintained.

Wow, the staff here really go above and beyond to take care of you and make sure you feel pampered.The grounds were beautiful and relaxing, the cabanas were absolutely stunning...rustic vibes but super well kept and premium feeling. The restaurant on site puts out some seriously tasty food. Only drawback is that the property is about 30 min out from San Pedro, so you will need a cart if you want to leave the hotel at all. This property also has it's own dive shop on their pier which is super convenient for booking reef excursions, just be aware that they book up fast and well in advance during the busier months. Loved it here, will most definitely be back!

Aside from the sargassum, which the workers removed everday, this place was great! Pool, food, staff, weather, and not being in dt San Pedro. Set up a snorkel, dive, or fishing w Kris and Emil on the property's private dock.

We had a wonderful time at Portofino and we’re already planning our next stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They all know your name by the first day and are genuinely happy to have a conversation with you. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were great sizes and private. We loved hanging out by the pool and walking along the beach. The tour company on the dock was incredible as well and very flexible to your needs and schedule. We enjoyed the smaller and quieter feel you get when staying up north. The resort is about a 35 minute drive from San Pedro, but that was a plus for us. The hotel offers pick up and drop off to the airport and will help you rent a golf cart or call a taxi. They made it very easy for us to explore and get around the island. Portofino provided one of the best hospitality experiences we’ve ever had and we can’t wait to return.

The location was very nice but we didn't enjoy the food. It was too pretentious and overpriced. We went in early October, off season, and it was very very empty, probably had 3-4 rooms only rented out. The mosquitoes and no see insects were horrendous. We literally got hundreds of bites on exposed skin even with bug spray.

We stayed in one of the Cabanas and it was so lovely !! Very clean and authentic I loved the ocean breeze! If you are looking for a resort that offers peace and quiet this the one! The ocean view from our hammock in the patio was amazing we would definitely return

This was a beautiful, quiet resort - Perfect for the couple or family that isn't in for a touristy like experience. The bungalows are just fabulous - look out over the pool then the the water. Can't swim in the water due about 6-8 feet of seaweed from the beach into the water - which is very smelly mostly in the mornings. This resort is about a 30 minute golf cart ride away from anything. So if you want a private peaceful getaway, this is it!!

Beautiful location. Amazing, friendly staff (shoutout to Mark!). It's a little far from town, which we liked, but you will want to rent a golf cart if you'll be here more than a few days. Food was wonderful, especially the steak au poivre. We can't wait to come back.

We stayed in Room 2 it was beautiful. The bathroom was behind the bedroom wall with an entry on each side which was nice. I found it odd that there was no door on the toilet area or curtain on the shower. even with just my husband and I in the room I would have liked a door and or curtain on those two areas for some privacy. The restaurant was amazing very good food we ate several meals there breakfast, lunch and dinner and all were delicious. There were a lot of fly’s and biting red ants under the big Sea Grape Tree where the out door dining tables are. It would be nice if they could do some insect control. There were some iguanas that would come right up table side looking for food personally I loved it but some might not enjoy that if they are scared of them. I definitely enjoyed my stay. The staff were very friendly and housekeeping was great. We were able to run a room tab which was very convenient. I did take a photo of each slip after I signed it to keep track.I did have one bartender ask me to sign one slip twice which I had reminded him that I had already signed the first slip. I was a little uneasy about doing it, but in the end at checkout I went over the bill, they looked it up and he put one slip in for our drinks and the second slip he turned it in as a tip for himself despite me leaving a cash tip on the bar which was very unethical. That does not reflect on Portofino itself. It was the act of one worker. I made the front desk aware and they refunded me.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Portofino. It is a bit out of town but it was all part of the experience so would do it again. Pool felt a little too cool. Rooms on the beach were fantastic. Staff friendly and flexible. Restaurant lovely. Would recommend.

This was a lovely, charming property. Restaurant had great food and room right in the beach was great. Beach and kayaking were good. Beach had sargassum but staff cleaned as much as they could. semi-swimable.

Fabulous Resort

The resort had a really peaceful feel. It far exceeded our expectations for the write up from the travel books. The food was exceptional at the restaurant and reasonably priced. It was very nice having all the water activities, such as fishing and diving and snorkeling right on the resort pier. The pool was very beautiful and the setting superior with all the wonderful palm trees and beach. The sunflower room was exceptional. Would highly recommend this resort to anybody looking to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Helpful and friendly staff

This was a very quiet resort not a full one either it was exactly what my friend and I were looking for the staff was extremely Friendly and accommodating they even provided my friend with a charger for her phone when hers stop Working. I would recommend this place to anyone just needing a quiet calm freeway
