"We stayed in a two-bedroom suite at Gara Suites. The hotel offers good value for money, but overall I feel it is closer to a 3-star hotel than the 4 stars it advertises.
The suite was spacious, but it only had one bathroom. The room description also stated a golf course view, but our balcony overlooked a construction site. From around 8–9am every morning there was loud construction noise, and dust covered our balcony and clothes. We also expected a kitchen, but there wasn’t one. There were no tea or coffee facilities, only one bottle of water, and we had to request a kettle from reception.
The housekeeping staff were excellent, especially the gentleman cleaning Block 4 on the third floor. He was always friendly, polite and kept our room spotless every day. Breakfast had a good selection and was enjoyable.
The biggest disappointment was the seafood buffet. We paid before entering as instructed, but while dining another staff member asked for our room number and wrote it down. The next morning, another employee wrongly claimed we hadn’t paid. Thankfully I had kept my receipt. This showed a serious lack of communication between staff, which was frustrating and embarrassing.
The spa was relaxing, but it required an extra charge despite the hotel promoting itself as a Golf & Spa resort. The pool was pleasant but quite small with very limited shade. The location is also far from the town centre, we had to rely on taxis throughout our stay. A shuttle bus would make a difference"
"Amazing all around. Really nice staff, hospitality was 10/10. It was clean everywhere: pools, beach, gym, elevators, stairwells, just everything was SPOTLESS. That’s a very big deal for me. Breakfast was good.
My only complaint is the food at the restaurants wasn’t outstanding for the price, especially compared to what’s available outside the resort. I spent $60 on lunch at El Mirador and all I got was a ceviche, one glass of wine, some bread and water. The ceviche was nothing to write home about. I tried dinner too, spent about $90, and again nothing I’ll be thinking about again. I’m not surprised by the prices themselves, I was more surprised the food didn’t leave a lasting impression. On average I spent €20-€30 eating outside the resort and the food was just as good, if not better.
So I’d recommend leaving the hotel for food. Otherwise my stay was perfect and I’m looking forward to staying here again."
"Staff were really helpful and attentive, clean room, really good facilities, loved the pool. Beach just across the strip. Had a very enjoyable 4 days there. Excellent location and discounts hard rock cafe and other very nice restaurants. Access to hotel next door after 6pm for entertainment. Decent breakfast too. Would definitely recommend and stay their again"
"The hotel was good, clean, staff friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good and rooms were sound proof and with good air conditioning. Pool were clean but small. At times they felt a bit crowded but most of the time were good in June. I imagine that July and August they would be crowder.
Amenities like the Club for VIP were expensive €15 per drink! the same as the spa services.
The restaurant Suena Chibo served us the worst rump stakes we ever ate at €26 per piece. Do not recommend them.
There is a handy mini market in front of the hotel as well as a nice Indian and pizza place and an English style cafe.
The hotel facilities are well maintained"
"We have just returned from a fantastic week at Dreams Jardín Tropical and cannot recommend it highly enough.
From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with stunning architecture, lush gardens, and breathtaking views of the Atlantic. The location is perfect, close enough to the marina, shops, and restaurants, while still feeling peaceful and relaxing.
We stayed as Preferred Club guests, which added an extra touch of luxury to the experience. The exclusive lounge, dedicated areas, and enhanced service made our stay feel even more special.
Our room was spacious, immaculately clean, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. Housekeeping did an excellent job throughout the week.
The food exceeded our expectations for an all-inclusive resort. There was a great variety of high-quality options at every meal, and we enjoyed every restaurant we tried. Breakfast overlooking the ocean was a particular highlight. The drinks selection was also excellent, with premium options available and attentive service throughout the resort.
The pool areas are beautiful, especially the iconic lagoon-style pool overlooking the sea. There were always plenty of comfortable sunbeds available, and the atmosphere was relaxed without ever feeling crowded.
What really made the holiday stand out was the staff. Every member of the team was friendly, professional, and genuinely committed to ensuring guests had a wonderful stay."
"We’ve been staying at the Santa Barbara for many years, and have written about it before. It’s still a lovely place to stay if you want the freedom of an apartment and don’t want to be too close to the main resorts. Whilst the hotel isn’t your normal all-inclusive, the staff are excellent, and the hotel itself is situated right next to a beautiful rugged coastline. The area is quiet, but there are plenty of places to eat and some charming villages, such as Los Abrigos and El Medano. Highly recommended"
