We stayed at Suyu Hotel Soo for five nights, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.
Our first room, on the 6th floor, had a terrible smell of stale cigarette smoke, so bad that my wife couldn’t stop coughing. We then noticed a sign in the elevator stating that only floors 2 and 3 had been designated non-smoking since summer 2026. Upon request, we were moved to a room on the 2nd floor.
While the second room appeared recently renovated, the renovation felt unfinished. The A/C blew out a noticeable cigarette smell whenever we turned it on, possibly because the filters hadn’t been replaced after converting the room to non-smoking.
The bathroom was extremely basic: no towel hooks, only one bath towel for two guests, no bath mat, and no separate shower area. The tiled floor was constantly wet, even when we hadn’t used the shower.
Worst of all, the bathroom would suddenly fill with a strong cigarette smell, presumably coming through the ventilation system from other floors. So even on a designated non-smoking floor, we couldn’t escape the smoke.
To make matters worse, we stayed five nights without receiving housekeeping service even once.
The hotel may be trying to improve its facilities, but simply designating a few floors as non-smoking doesn’t work when cigarette smoke continues to circulate through the ventilation system.
Overall, a disappointing experience, particularly for anyone sensitive to cigarette smoke. We would not stay here again.
