“This was a spur of the moment decision and we are so glad we had this memorable experience. We abandoned our first (prepaid) stay at another location to get closer to the action in La Fortuna. Mentioning this to the front desk, they said “we are not fancy”. To us, this was so special. At the gate at the bottom of the mountain, an attendant lets you in (with confirmation of reservation). The road is high and steep and takes about 6 minutes to climb. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended....

“We loved staying at the Hotel Boutique Casa Del Rio. The staff was extremely gracious and helpful. Everyone we met seemed happy to work there. Our room, tucked away in a lovely oasis-like environment, was very clean and comfortable. I loved the grounds and the restaurant. And we got to see howler monkeys along the river!”

“We had an amazing stay at Hotel Campo Verde. Everything was very close. Restaurants and attractions. Having the option for breakfast was perfect for us too (it was delicious) The room was clean and cozy. Reception was very helpful with suggestions. Wish we could have enjoyed the hike but weather was not on our side. More reasons to come back and visit Hotel Campo Verde again! ”
