We had an amazing experience at Hotel Della Fortezza! The unique atmosphere and historic setting made our stay truly special. What really stood out to us was the hotel’s strong commitment to sustainability — from eco-friendly practices to their focus on local, organic products. We especially loved the delicious locally produced food, which gave us a real taste of the region. It’s clear that the hotel values quality and the environment in everything they do. Why not stay in a castle when you have the chance?

We really liked our stay at the Fortezza. It is not luxurious, but it more than makes up for it with bucketloads of character. It is a great place from which to survey Sorano from above and to descend into its charming labyrinths. The associated restaurant in town was also really good.

This was a bucket list item - stay in a castle!! it was a real treat, the room was very clean, bed comfortable, great shower. Easy and free parking was a bonus, and so easy to walk around Sorano. The dinner was exceptional, definitely eat in their restaurant at least once. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night and were enchanted with the fortress turned hotel in the heart of Sorano. Our room had amazing views of the surrounding town, the breakfast had fantastic coffee and a wide assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries. The owners tour of the underground wine cellars and wine making process capped off with a tasting was informative and delicious.

You cannot beat the setting: a 900-year-old fortress on the top of a hill! There is a great buffet breakfast available, but no restaurant on premises. The staff are friendly and dedicated.
