“It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter. “When I arrived at the hotel, my room was not ready. I waited for approximately two hours, and it was still not available. The lady at the front desk was very nice and tried to help by putting me in another room. Unfortunately, the door to that room did not lock properly. She then tried to move me to another room, but that room was already occupied. Finally, I was given a fourth room, which was clean and suitable. “I like that they are clearly making every effort to improve the property. It will be nice when all the renovations are completed. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. I asked for our linens to be changed part way through our stay, and it didn’t get done. I would have also liked our room to be tidied each day (garbage cans emptied, etc) but that did not happen either.”

“All staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially one of the house keepers who helped retrieve a item I dropped that went under the wardrobe.”

“Stay was good. The loacation is very nice and it worked very well for where we needed to be. The place could use some minor fixing up and maybe some fresh exterior painting. We wrapped our work up there a day early but paid for the full 11 days. Wish there could have been a way to get reimbursed for thate last day that we didn't stay.”
