Definitely visit this pedestrian mall even though it's crowded and shops are expensive. Walk down side streets to find better cafes and shops away from the crowds.

Stroeget is nice but the side streets parallel to Stroeget are even better. Illums Bolighus ia fantastic as to the best of Scandinavian design.

This is a high-end shopping area. Even if it's not quite in your budget, the buildings are beautiful and it's a nice walk. We went in the winter and it was decorated for Christmas.

Beware of pickpockets! Stroeget seems very Las Ramblas (Barcelona) in that aspect of prevalence of petty crime.

Højbro Plads (literally "High Bridge Square") is a rectangular public square located between the adjoining Amagertorv and Slotsholmen Canal in the City Centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its name from the Højbro Bridge which connects it to the Slotsholmen island on the other side of the canal while Gammel Strand extends along the near side of the canal. The most striking feature of the square is an equestrian statue of Absalon, the warrior-bishop who has traditionally been credited as the founder of Copenhagen. It was inaugurated in 1901 to commemorate the septcentennial of his death.
