“We rather liked Kemps Yard, which must be fairly new to the listing. Very convenient for Thirsk town, quietly hidden away from the main road, and clean and cosy. Parking in the yard is almost impossible, although the neighbour is an expert at manoeuvring his pickup down the lane! The visitor's permit lets you park on the road and saves you from endangering your vehicle, but you may get your step count up while you unload. “Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space.”

Room not great at keeping noise out - could hear footsteps overhead from residents upstairs and voices carried across the count yard late at night. As it was warm needed to windows open so more easily disturbed by noise. The bed was super creaky too, which was annoying and disturbing in the dead of night! Convenient and suitable for a location/budget stay. Friendly staff and looked like a...

“Lovely place to stay. Was just the two of us. We would say 2nd bedroom is suitable for children rather than infants or adults, due to steep stairs, and layout of the room. Teenagers would love it I'd imagine. Only thing that let it down slightly was the small seating area outside. Just needs a little TLC. A quick sweep out would have helped. Other than that Masham and this property well worth visit, if maybe slightly over priced.”
