"It's a beautiful hotel with excellent, helpful staff. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bar area is cosy and the gardens are well cared for and very pretty."
"We had a great room with a view of the ocean. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean and there is parking for the guests at no cost. The food and drinks at the restaurant were excellent.
We highly recommend it; we will definitely come back.
The location is also in the middle of town very close to the pier."
"Excellent location in an historical building, with great views of the Atlantic Ocean. Very friendly and accommodating owners. We liked it so much that we booked an extra night."
"The view from our room was simply spectacular. An executive room, number 4, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and jetty. Next to the jetty is one of two restaurants, the Tug, a few minutes walk and outstanding food and service. The room itself was great, comfortable beds, and wonderful shower with nice water pressure. The fridge was perfect for chilling wine and beer. The elevator was very much appreciated. We had the pleasure of talking to Jolande at reception, who managed to book an excellent tour for us, of the Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross. The other staff at reception were very helpful too, providing us with ice for drinks, and offering tips and answering all of our questions. The ladies at breakfast were simply wonderful, so friendly, and providing excellent service. Some good food choices, and the eggs were always a good way to start the day. We didn't use the bar onsite, as we purchased wine and beer at the grocery store just a few minutes walk away. Swakopmund is a gem by the ocean, and our stay at A La Mer couldn’t have been any better. "
"Sandcastle Apartments is perfect for what it offers. It is self-catering, clean, safe, and a very good home base for exploring Swakopmund, though I would recommend a vehicle for accessing the main downtown/shopping and restaurant areas.
Our host, Claudia, was accommodating and very communicative. There was a chance that our arrival would be delayed due to unseasonal flooding, but Claudia promptly responded to our messages and assured us that we would be able to check in with even very late arrivals. Luckily that didn't end up being necessary but we appreciated not having the stress of possibly missing a check-in time.
We found our rooms (Lion Apartment) to be in great condition and very clean. Kitchen supplies seemed basic but all we really needed/used was the refrigerator. Our only recommendation for the property is a way to check out and hand over keys if staff isn't immediately available or can't be found. On our second day another guest knocked on our door early in the morning and told us we needed to take her keys and let her out the gate, as a car was picking her up and she couldn't find any staff to check her out. Obviously the behavior of this guest isn't the responsibility of the property, but having some sort of key box or communicated policy in place for checking out might have avoided the issue.
Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay and found the value to be excellent. "
"A lovely establishment right at the center of everything, beach restaurants, bars and shops. Nelly at reception and her coworkers were absolutely kind and helpful. They booked my transfers, activities and had great recommendations of places to eat etc. I was room 21, just over the bar. Room is spacious and beautifully decorated.
It needs a little more love as some of the deco is showing signs of age.
The bar closes around 9pm at 10pm, it’s all quiet. It was quite hot during my stay and the aircon in the room was an absolute lifesaver.
Nespresso. Machine in the room I was a definite plus for me. Breakfast was adequate and fruit was fresh.
As a solo female traveler, I felt safe throughout my stay.
Definitely recommend this place. "
"It was a huge breakfast with lots of options, hot and cold. Hot breakfast was made to order. Even though we had early morning excursions and an even earlier morning departure David was up and ready to serve whatever we wanted.
David also took the time to help us choose excursions that were perfect for us. When my husband left his phone in the van on one of our trips David went and picked it up for us. Could not ask for better service. "
"What a wonderful stay. Super staff, really nice facilities. We booked last minute and after so long on the road camping, to have such a comfortable welcoming place to stay was a godsend. Room is very clean, very well equipped and the staff is ready to help with absolutely anything. I can't thank them enough. "
Hostels are a great way to stay for a good value, so you can save more for exploring. We've heard good things about this destination's natural setting, including its sea views and beaches.
