This hotel feels like it wasn't maintained since it was built in 1974. It's definitely historic Soviet monument, but well lived and desperately needing renovation if they want to keep it. Breakfast was great, reception stuff helpful, laundry service is really good. Keep in mind that even though we requested non smoking room it was smelly in the hallways especially at the hotel entrance, where official smoking place is located, which is very unpleasant. Restaurant adjacent to the hotel is beautiful but prices are higher than you can find at other places. Location is not perfect but convenient, metro station is really close. Railroad station is 15 minutes taxi ride away.

It's an older hotel in an amazing location. The only issue that I had was that it was spotty on getting hot water. I was there for four night and wasn't in the room much, you cannot beat the location and price

We decided to stay at this iconic hotel partly for a bit of fun as well as it's great location in Tashkent. If visiting the capital no doubt you will at least visit the property for it's history and location, adjacent to the hotel is the square, metro, restaurants and other attractions to explore. The hotel itself can be described as an older property and does need a facelift to bring it back to it's former glory, however if you fancy staying in what can be described as a piece of Soviet history then this is for you!....The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spotless, however some are refurbished and some are not!....ours wasn't refurbished but we did have a balcony giving us view of the mountains in the distance, the room itself was simple and basic but good value, and kept clean.Breakfast was plentiful and the bar on the 16th floor is well worth a visit for a cold beer and admire the views,in addition the lunch menu was good and good value for money. Yes there are better hotels in Tashkent, but Hotel Uzbekistan can offer something a little different where you can say that you stayed where former world leaders stayed back in the day and just enjoy the fun element of being there!,

Breakfast could be better. They could have a couple of coffee mashines instead of one. Interior of the rooms is a little bit old. Staff was friendly. Location is excellent. They could have a little bit more local TV channels to observe Uzbek culture and traditions.

Reviews of this hotel are all over the place and some complaints are truthful but completely overstated while some are just outlandish. This building is architecturally significant, the very most prized location in the city, and the cost is comparatively low, it's accessible to all comers. So the guests might be like anyone traveling in an airport, but this hotel is in fact very special and I am in total agreement with the Hotel Uzbekistan. If you're in agreement with your surroundings, you'll have few complaints, and that says something about what you value.

This hotel is run down. The interior of my room had so much wear and tear, I had no control over the air temp and woke up sweating since I couldn’t actually use the AC, and it was also just not the cleanest. I’ve stayed in better kept hostels for cheaper. Also the breakfast buffet was also very underwhelming compared to others I had throughout Uzbekistan. The staff is nice, and friendly. Overall, glad I only booked this place for one night. Wasn’t my favorite

Pros: - Great location with restaurants, shops, metro etc. - Spacious room - Clean room - Very friendly staff - Okay breakfast included in the price - Good price considering the area Cons: - The bed was rock-hard. - Warm water from shower only now and then, and then it was brown. - Room needs renovation. - You could only plug-in a device in some of the sockets. - Noisy refrigerator

I had quite a mixed experience at Hotel Uzbekistan. On my first night, I was given a room on the 8th floor. Unfortunately, the room was very dated and uncomfortable. The old air-conditioning/cooling unit did not seem to work properly, so the room felt hot and stuffy. It also made a constant noise throughout the night, which made it difficult for me to sleep. Many of the room facilities were quite worn and outdated, and there was also an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. The next day, I spoke to reception and asked to change rooms. They moved me to a room on the 16th floor, which felt like a significant upgrade — from a single bed to a double bed, with much better facilities and a far more comfortable environment. I was very happy with the second room and appreciated the staff arranging the change. My only disappointment is that I wish I had been given a room of this standard from the beginning. The difference between the two rooms was surprisingly large. Had I stayed in the second room from the first night, my overall impression of the hotel would have been much more positive. The hotel itself has a lot of character and history, and I enjoyed its grand, old-style atmosphere. With some refurbishment and more consistency in room standards, it could offer a much better experience.
