Telgate, Lombardy hotel rooms at the Independent

"Definitely not a 4start hotel, I would say its maybe 2 stars at best. Originally, we were put in a handicap room that did not have a toilet seat, had tears in the toilet (unsanitary), had used shampoo containers in the shower (so was likely not cleaned well) and had a horrible smell from the shower bathroom like sewage. We arrived late at night so we stayed and first thing in the morning asked to change rooms. The front desk staff was very rude and annoyed at the request and refused to move us. When, I said that I would need to cancel the remaining nights to find a new hotel, then they looked to change rooms but gave us a VERY hard time about it. The new room was only ok, at least no smell. They claim that in the future they will make all rooms handicap accessible, meaning no toilet seats and open showers, which I find very uncomfortable for families. The beds are not comfortable, the hotel is very out of the way and breakfast is quite limited (at least friendly staff for breakfast). We will definitely not stay at this hotel again. "

"Lovely, well located hotel. Close to all amenities eg rail and bus station, shops, Citta Alta, bars and restaurants. Staff very helpful and friendy. Good choice of food in restaurant. Beds very comfortable. It was a shame i only stayed a week. I would have liked to stayed longer. I would definately return again."

"Good accessible hotel only ten mins walk from the main train station. We only stayed for a night and found it perfect for a short stay. Breakfast was basic and coffee was great. "

"Wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable room, nice bedding, wonderful staff. The only thing I would have is a proper fridge in the room. There is one but it is set up for the mini bar. The air conditioning was not working while I was there in April. It was rather hot in my room but I could open the window. Not sure if they turn it on later in the season. "

"We had a standard double room, which was clean and modern. Had obviously been renovated relatively recently, all the fixings and fittings in excellent condition. The lights all linked to touchscreens located throughout the room. Powered shutters on the windows and AC which was effective. Complimentary water in the fridge, tea and instant coffee. As a vegan, the options at the breakfast buffet were limited to fruit, cereal + soy milk, bread + jam, some hot mixed veg, and a couple of sweet cakes. Tea/coffee/juice. The vegan things were labelled so that was nice. Very easy to get around, bus stops just across the street to the train station, airport etc. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would happily recommend."
