The property photos — many items shown are old, broken, or completely unusable. There was no outdoor lighting, and the glasses were dusty and poorly maintained. "While this stay lacks in the polished stays of a fancy resort it makes up ten-fold in charm and personality. This was the coziest most wonderful stay we've had on our trip yet and we'll definitely be back. Located a mere 4 minute walk from the train station and a 1 minute from the beach this was the low key break we needed. The stay was clean with great amenities. "Travelled as a family, room clean and confortable but a bit dated, had everything we needed, exactly what expected. Enjoyed buffet breakfast numerous varied choices. Enjoyed beach, pool and onsen. Enjoyed 15 min walk into the little town nearby, very nice groceriy. Very pleasant stay! Thank you!"

"It’s in a perfect location literally right across from Shirahama beach!! Beautiful views from the room. The hotel itself is definitely dated. But the room is exactly what we wanted. A traditional Japanese style room. We had to lay out our beds and everything. So that was fun and unique. The onsen and public baths were nice too! Only thing I didn’t like was the sauna was a “private” experience that was like $60-70 extra for 2 hours. Not great. At the end of the day, we basically wanted a classic Japanese room to sleep at night and be a good home base to explore shimoda from. And for that, it was amazing! I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for that. But luxurious, it was not. Overall, we were very happy with our stay!"
