Communication was friendly & useful for how to get there & local dining options (which was also brilliant, friendly and delicious.) They had kindly started the fireplace before we arrived. "Rathmore was everything we had hoped for a tranquil weekend escape. We stayed in the Shearer’s Quarters, separate from the main homestead and very private, with delicious meals delivered by Cally - the lamb ragu was a favourite, highly recommended. Both hosts, Richard and Cally, encouraged us to wander the historic property, which felt a little like stepping back in time to a more peaceful era. We even saw one of the dam’s resident platypus! Cally’s local suggestions enhanced our day trip to Mount Field NP and the Gordon Dam. I only wish we could have stayed longer to take better advantage of the many hidden treasures along the route. Our weekend was topped off by an impromptu tour of Rathmore House, a true beauty of a homestead and, despite the age, very much alive. Cally and Richard clearly love their home and sharing that joy with visitors."
