"Taupo is freezing and room took ages to warm up. Air con was very noisy but we needed it on all night to stay warm. We were disappointed in the hilton, bed was old and uncomfortable, unit was very noisy both with plumbing from above us and some trades, we stayed 2 nights and cups for in room coffee were getting pretty manky. Carpet had big stains on it. Staff were lovely, place easy to get to, lots of complimentary parking, spa,was wonderful. I expected a higher standard because of its rating and also because its a hilton"

"We had a fantastic stay at The Reef Resort in Taupō. The location right on the lakefront was beautiful, with amazing views (the sunset and Mt Ruapehu were especially pretty) and easy access to walking tracks and town. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and both the thermal plunge pool and in-room spa were a real highlight after a day exploring the area (the main pool was out of action for re-painting, however this didn't bother us and we were offered free use of a sister complex pool not far away). The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the entire complex was well maintained, clean and quiet. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable stay — we’d happily return and would definitely recommend it to others visiting Taupō. "
