It was basically the only accommodation we could find in Cape Breton Island. I expected more from a “resort”. The room was very noisy all through the night causing us to wake up multiple times during the night. There seemed to be a lot of families staying there with little respect for other guests, with children shouting in the halls at 7am. There was no refrigerator in the room which meant we lost some perishable food we had for road trips on our 3 day stay there. There was no cable TV option that I could detect, so don’t expect much for entertainment either in the room or the area. The restaurant was wildly inconsistent! The first night there the food was quite good, with perhaps the best seafood chowder we had (we had it at all our previous stops for a week)! Unfortunately we ordered it again our second night and it was the WORST we had in 10 days stay in Nova Scotia. When the waitress asked how our meal was I asked if was a different chef(?) from the previous night and she confirmed it was. Also, the menu was stripped down with many items from previous menu unavailable. Needless to say we avoided the restaurant like the plague the next night and drove all the way to Port Hawkesbury to eat. If you plan to stay here I suggest eating somewhere else if you are touring Cape Breton. NB there is no elevator to rooms if you have mobility issues or difficulty carrying luggage up the stairs.

Beautiful resort in general and I’m sure it’s even more pretty in summer. We stayed at one of the cottages, it was good but bit outdated. Being fall season, the biggest challenge we faced was with heating. Surprisingly one of the rooms did not have any heating but master and living room did. The best part where this resort shined was customer service. The front desk staff were super friendly and helped solve all our needs with a smile. Very accommodating staff. The only reason our stay turned out to be fine was due to the staff. Maybe the cottage is better during summer months but we felt colder. Apart this one issue, the property was beautiful and clean in general. There is kids playground and also a warm indoor pool.

Having stayed in more than 250 hotels and vacation rentals over the past 30 years, I’ve developed a keen eye for quality, cleanliness, and overall value. This property made an excellent impression. The hotel was exceptionally well maintained, with everything in proper working order—from the drawers and fixtures to the faucets and lighting. It’s refreshing to find a property where attention to maintenance and detail is so evident. The check-in and check-out processes were straightforward, efficient, and completely hassle-free. Parking was excellent, and complimentary coffee was available in the reception area, along with a microwave for guest convenience. My ground-floor room featured two queen-size beds and was impressively clean. I took the time to inspect the room thoroughly for dust, dirt, and debris, and found the overall standard of cleanliness to be excellent. The room was well presented and clearly cared for. Another welcome bonus was that no additional damage deposit or fee was required upon arrival, making for a smooth and transparent check-in experience. Overall, this property delivers exactly what a traveller hopes for: a clean, well-maintained, comfortable, and hassle-free stay. Based on my experience, I would confidently recommend it to others looking for excellent value and a pleasant place to stay.

We arrived late. A wedding event booked meant the music throughout the resort was loud until 1 am. Unfortunately I should have booked a main floor bedroom as there are no elevators for people with mobility issues. The view would have been nice if the window wasn’t stained and misty from age. If I came here to play golf and have a few drinks my expectations would be fine. Bringing an elderly traveller and hoping for a quiet night of rest was unrealistic based on what the resort caters for on a weekend. Loud wedding guests in the halls at night is never great but out of the control of the staff.

We had a great stay here! Such a beautiful resort! Amazing sunsets from the dining room as we ate supper! But their staff were over the moon friendly! From the staff at the front desk who were so helpful and fun, the staff in the dining room were always so welcoming and were so easy to joke with and enjoy a laugh with and even the cleaning staff would visit and chat as we met them in the hallway. We found out as we stayed with them that the staff and the resort suffered damage and upset with the flooding three weeks before, but they were absolutely amazing to make sure our stay was perfect. I was so impressed by this resort and highly recommend them!

We were here for a one night stay. One of our beds had what appeared to be nasal mucus (dry snot) all over the sheet under the comforter. Super gross. We showed front desk pictures and got a different much quieter room. There was a wedding going on and the music was very loud. The venue was on the same floor as the guest rooms and one side of the double doors to the venue was opened. We could hear the loud music, slamming of doors with people going in and out of the rooms quite a bit away from the venue. Baffled with a venue room on the same floor next to guest rooms. Bathroom fixtures were outdated and sink was all scratched at the drain area. Needs upgrade. We walked around the property to check out the golf course (huge pro shop), lake view, cottages etc. Very nice. We did not eat at the restaurant.
