The Samaria Gorge, on the south side of Crete, is Europe's deepest canyon. The hike from the top of the gorge to the sea is about 18 km, and can be done in about four hours.
The village of Agia Roumeli, on the south coast of Crete, is accessible only by ferry or by an 18 km hike down the Samaria Gorge, the deepest canyon in Europe.

We paid for ocean view but they put us on floor 2. You definitely don’t have a view from there though. Be sure to ask for floor 4 or 5. Out toilet broke on the night and they did try to fix it. The host is incredibly friendly and cleans the room daily. Although the outdoor area is somewhat cluttered, the space is kept clean. He assisted us in finding a trustworthy taxi driver who charged fair rates and generously lent us beach equipment at no cost.

The completely secluded Kedrodasos Beach, Crete. Crystal clear water, white sand, fig trees and absolutely no people the entire day. Perfect. Far quieter and untouched than Elafonissi beach a few miles away.
