“There is no on site staff and you have to pick your room keys up at that corner Spar. That is fine. But it is not communicated that the room is not refreshed daily. When I sent a message, via Expedia, asking about making up the room, I was told the room was only refreshed every other day. This did not happen, either. “The breakfast menu was amazing and the bar offered a great selection of drinks. Our room was lovely. Very comfortable. There is a walled garden and historic out buildings. The property is very historic and it has a lot of charm. It has a great atmosphere. It was nice to talk to John at the bar and other guests. So friendly.”

“In the Lodge we had a good view of the lough from our room and the common area lounge. Lovely grounds. We sat outside on the terrace when the sun shone. The breakfast choice is superb with buffet and chef selection, and more. We weren't so impressed with the evening food served in the bar lounge. Overall it's a great experience.”

“The entrance to Lough Eske Castle is a facade that was built sometime in the late 1800s. This is important because it looks like something out of someone's Disney fantasy. If you're looking for a 5-star historically relevant architectural site, this is not for you. We had room 248. It was literally a 3000 step walk each way to the restaurant from our room. “While the room was clean, you could tell there were some areas that need updating. Also, if traveling with luggage there are a lot of stairs to carry luggage up and down. Another thing to note is that you walk in to a restaurant, but it is where you check in to the hotel. A bit on the odd side.”

“Lovely traditional hotel with great sea views to the front. John was very pleasant and booked us in and showed us to our rooms which were clean and comfortable. Private parking to the rear of the building. Fantastic breakfast, cooked to perfection and staff serving were very pleasant. Will definitely stay again.”

“Only real issue involves room doors that have a strong shutting mechanism. Obviously too much for many guests. We managed to close our door without banging...... apparently, too much effort for many others resulting in loud door banging into the night and then early morning. No fault of the hotel just inconsiderate fellow guests!”
