"We booked a higher-category double room, but upon arrival the room did not match the photos. The layout was noticeably different — the wall with the window was only half-width, making the space feel smaller, darker, and somewhat cramped. Since we arrived around midnight, I immediately asked the receptionist if we could switch to a room that actually matched the advertised photos. I was told that no such room was available. However, the next morning around 8 a.m., the situation changed. After an initial dismissive response to my wife’s complaint, I approached the reception myself. At that moment, the staff did not realize we were together and I overheard them discussing our case, referring to us as “the guests who want the normal room,” which strongly suggested they were aware that our assigned room was inferior. Shortly after, they showed us another room — one that fully matched the photos and our expectations — and moved us there. From that point on, our stay was satisfactory. Overall, the experience was negatively affected by the initial handling and lack of transparency, despite the eventual resolution."

"Staff was a bunch of idiots who did not care about needs of the client and chose to argue rather than provide some solution blaming Expedia for booking issues. Overall experience is simply bad, no help in baggage and pricing changes. My stay was suppose to be about $667 and was charged well over $900. They blame Expedia for the reservations issue but are unwilling to come to some sort of compromise. I would recommend just stay away and find a place closer to the city."

"clean room and friendly staff. cheap and cheerful. calling the hotel amsterdam south is a bit cheeky though. this is in amstelveen, a dutch commuter town outside amsterdam city limits. the location is in an alright residential area, near a canal off the amstel river, but expect the "authentic" dutch commuter experience of cycling 10-15 min to the tram stop or NS station, or 45 min to centrum. for me this was an upside, but i imagine the average amsterdam tourist does not want this and would rather be closer to the busyness of amsterdam proper. (tip: bikes aren't allowed on trams; and not allowed on trains at peak times, and cost extra. folding bikes are allowed without restriction or cost. i cant imagine staying here being enjoyable without my brompton.) the loss of one star is from poor sound isolation. my neighbors were great, but could be an issue if you are unfortunate enough to get less considerate neighbors."

"It was a 3 nights stay in a 2 queen beds room with my family. My husband and i brought our 6 years old and 11 months old daughters on vacation in Amsterdam. I called the reception requested 2 extra duvets coz we all wanted an individual duvet on our own and there are only 2 in the room. Later on a staff only brought 1 duvet over and said they only have 1 extra left. I ended up separated the duvet cover and folded it up for my baby who sleep in the cot and i used a duvet without the cover. Can anyone imagine an international brand hotel doesnt even have enough duvet for their guest？ I even found an empty water bottle under my bed which i believed is from the previous guest(thanks to my 11 months old who crawled to every corner in the room). I was absolutely disappointed about my staying. "
