YS Falls Tours

Swim, splash or soar at the refreshing cascades of this beloved natural wonder, hidden away from the hordes on a secluded estate.

Leap into the fresh mountain waters of YS Falls to realize that this is one of the most elegant and beautifully composed set of falls that you’re likely to see. The clear waters of Black River cascade into one tier after another, seven in total.

Less widely known than the similarly lovely Dunn’s River Falls, YS Falls are on a fairly remote property in the hills of St. Elizabeth Parish. They are one of the natural wonders of which Jamaicans are most proud. You’ll be taken to the falls from the entrance of a thick, bushy rainforest, with a 10-minute trip in a jitney, a tractor pulling a trailer behind it through the rainforest.

Enjoy the falls in a variety of ways. For an aerial thrill, zipline over the falls and see them from above. The zipline canopy is operated by experienced guides to help you fly above the falls without a worry.

Swing into the natural pools on a rope or simply enjoy the sounds of rushing water while you’re swimming in one of the emerald pools and seeing little fish swimming below you. If you’d prefer a calmer swim or something for the kids, float in a beautiful natural pool fed by springs from above and underground, surrounded by deckchairs and a paved picnic area. The natural formations here have been tastefully incorporated into a dedicated tourist attraction. Appreciate the conveniences of changing rooms and restrooms.

Be aware that the water is quite cold, away from the heat of sea level. Bring shoes for the rocks. When you’re finished swimming and splashing around, stroll through the on-site gardens, filled with colorful flowers. A sugar cane farm and factory once occupied these grounds. Today YS Estate also keeps a stud farm, although this isn’t included in the entry price. End your day in nature with a snack at the café and a souvenir from the gift shop.
