Close to the train station, the beautiful gardens around the abbey ruins and the historic centre of York. Enjoyed the owners friendliness and warmth. Felt very much at home. Excellent breakfast too.

A lovely little B&B with a warm welcome from the owner, so friendly and helpful. Lovely, comfortable room and very clean and tidy, nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and the overall experience was excellent I would very much recommend this place!

Sycamore Guest house

Very welcoming hosts, lovely comfortable room and warm, quiet area but only short walk to the city centre and York minster. Amazing breakfast. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely rebook on our next visit to York.

Sycamore guest house

Lovely B&B. Spirios was very welcoming and accommodating and always had a smile on his face. Room was clean and tidy and mirrored the rest of the guest house. Close to York city centre and 10 minutes from the train station. Would highly recommend a stay at this little gem

Great spot for all York's attractions

Very well placed but quiet spot close to all of York's sights and only 10 minutes from train station. Fabulous breakfast and both Spiros and his son were great hosts. If you like antique furniture and quirkiness whilst retaining the essential mod cons you'll love this b&b.

Sycamore Guest House

Went to York to see Christmas market,so looked for somewhere that was a a short walk from the centre. This is a quaint period property that is privately run. The host was very helpful and nothing was too much bother. Would certainly stay there again.

Our host Stavros was an excellent host from start to finish. He made us feel so welcome. room very small but very clean, external bathroom small but fine for us. guest house in general very dated , however this gave us the comfortable cosy feel.

Decent stay with some disappointments

Host was nice enough, and location was good. Can’t speak for other rooms. But my room in particular was on the top floor, was really small and had a detached private bathroom that was also small and inconvenient. Although the bathroom situation was disclosed, the tight spaces and inconvenient access were not. I also needed to leave very early and made the room available for most of my stay and wasn’t offered even part of the payment back. I realize that’s policy. But some flexibility considering the very early departure would have been nice.

The Sycamore Guest House er et koselig lite hotell med kort vei til og fra jernbane og bysentrum i York. Alt var rent og pent, og atmosfæren trivelig. I cannot praise the hosts and property enough. They are both so welcoming & did everything to ensure we had a fabulous stay. Easy walk to town , permit parking £2 , breakfasts amazing. I will be back for sure. Definitely recommended

On hotel.com it’s advertising you can check in at 9am but when we got there they said it was 2:30pm😒 so was impressed. I was not the fault of the guest house they said they hotel.com would let them change it! Also after a 2-1/2hour drive we asked if we could use a toilet and where told we had to use the one in town! Other then that room was comfort and clean. Breakfast was amazing and where very attentive!

If you want a good place to stay in York this is the place .hosts very helpful and friendly they cannot do enough for you the rooms are spotless and the breakfast is great it will set you up for the day.

This little hidden gem is just outside the walls of the old city of York, yet is walking distance to all the historic sites and to the train station. The building is a quaint old house. Our room was clean, comfortable, and exquisitely decorated. The full English breakfast was delicious. The hostess and host were helpful with advice, accommodating and kind!
