Yushan National Park, Taiwan hotel rooms at the Independent

huge, old-school, noisy, package-tour oriented hotel. felt like a throw back to a bye-gone age. Average food served in shifts. (However, nice Balinese restaurant trainees made us feel welcome).

My room overlooking the village's central area provided interesting views into local life. Breakfast was available at the hotel's modest restaurant across the street. Helpful staff showed me the ingredients so I could build my own breakfast since I could not complete their Chinese language menu. The bathroom had its own onsen tub, so I did not use the spa.

Overall condition is excellent. Room is very clean.. It is very quiet.. breakfast is fresh. Staff is very friendly..

Great breakfast

Beautiful property, free tea tasting, and very wonderful host. Host was a pleasure to talk to and was always available for any assistance we needed. Had great recommendations for food and hikes nearby. He also took the time to show us his family’s tea farm only 2 minutes away. The views were incredible. Alishan Recreational Forest was only 30-40 minutes away. There is machine laundry, but clothes need to be air dried. However, there are enough lines and fans to allow the clothes to dry...

We got to Chiayi much later than expected and had to take a cab up to the bus station and a B&B staff picked us up from the bus station. Even with a car, this B&B is bit hard to get to because it's higher up in the mountain. However, the scenery was fanstastic since the buildings are right next to tea plantations. There are short trails around the B&B where you can climb for a pretty good view. The room we got was wood and beauitfully decorated. The photos do not do it justice. The staffs...

It’s a very well maintained, very clean & comfortable hotel. Great service, excellent brey& dinner. The roof top is a good place to watch sunset. The only negative is not convenient if you don’t have a far. It’s quite far from all the attractions In Alishan.

Had a lovely stay where the owner went out of his way to help. Stayed up to welcome us when our train got in very late and then even drove our bags to the station when we were away for a day-trip after checking-out. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was tasty. Would happily stay there again.

Dany and Dora are outstanding hosts! My wife and I stayed only one night with the goal to see the sunrise at Alishan National Park. We took the high speed rail from Taipei to Chiayi and the bus from Chiayi to Alishan. Dany provided excellent details in clear English on how to navigate the bus system. We stayed here for one night while traveling from Sun Moon Lake to Alishan. The room was spacious and very clean, and the breakfast was excellent. The owner was extremely polite and provided many helpful tips and suggestions for our travel plans, which we truly appreciated.
