Property: GRAND MONday Asakusa (formerly MONday Apart Premium Asakusa) 2-16-5 Nishiasakusa, Taito City, Tokyo Room: 1bd Suite, with 10sqm balcony. This property was great all around. The staff was very nice, helpful, and respectful. The room was the perfect size to comfortably accommodate 5 of us (2 adults, 3 older kids). The location was perfect and well within walking distance to grocery stores to buy food to make for breakfast in the morning. The kitchen was stocked with utensils and cooking supplies, small refrigerator, microwave, and a washer/dryer combo which all made the stay so comfortable and convenient. All around the property there is tons to explore and the Tawaramachi station is a couple minute walk away, as is the Senso-ji temple and direct train to the Sky Tower. Be ready for a lot of food choices, tucked away cafes, jazz bars, and shops. I highly recommend this location for bigger parties.

I am not sure what was the smell but my room smelled like sweat and armpit we were hardly in the room but once we got there the stench would come back the hotel offered to move us but we had so much stuff that we decided to just deal with it

Excellent excellent hotel. Wonderful and delicious breakfast options. 7-11 located conveniently inside hotel. Rooms are spacious. Clean. You are about 10 min walk from Shingawa Station. Convenient. There was an error in booking and I felt the hotel could have done more to help us. But such is life. This was a pleasant stay

Breakfast was very convenient

Beautiful hotel with caring, attentive staff. Extremely well located for Shinjuku and therefore central Tokyo and anything you can get to on the subway. All staff spoke excellent English. 5 tips: 1) Likely the last stop on your journey to the hotel will be Shinjuku station. For the uninitiated, this can be incredibly difficult to find an exit for, especially if you are jetlag and tired. Follow any signs you can see towards West Gate or West Concourse. Finally, leave via the west exit which is down a small flight of stairs. If you end up going round in circles coming in and out of ticket barriers that is understandable, and just pick any exit you can see or be directed to And and then navigate on the street level. When you leave the hotel fir the first time to use the subway, remember where the closest entrance is and that will be your exit next time. 2) Get the Premier Grand rooms if you can as these include a lounge with its own quieter check in/out, breakfast area and all day snacks/drinks to have in or takeaway. There is another lounge cafe type place in the south tower but it’s not as good. 3) not mentioned by staff but there is a 7-11 in the Basement-2 floor at the far end. 7-11 Japan sells great food with good service, it’s not like in the USA ;-) 4) the pool is outdoor and only open seasonally 5) breakfast is quieter in the lounge if you get a Premier Grand room, though the basement restaurant serves earlier at 6am if you want an early start. OK, so the Hotel Niwa in Tokyo is a literal oasis in the middle of the city and it felt so restful to return to this sanctuary at the end of a long day of the spectacular noise and visual overload of Tokyo. From the lobby (and the super helpful staff there), to the breakfast buffet to the lovely tradition-inspired room design, I found this whole experience to be exemplary. There is no ground-floor window or glass door you can look out through from inside and not see greenery, foliage, water displays, wooden walkways, and under-stated beautiful lighting. When I needed help with taxis (because, for some reason, the GO Taxi App wouldn't work in Tokyo, no matter where I was or how many times I tried) and with directions, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I got to where I wanted to go, including walking me out the front door straight into the taxi and sending me off with a respectful bow. The food at the breakfast buffet represented every possible kind of food a visitor or a local might want in the morning - small cozy dining room, greenery out the window, tastefully decorated, and unobtrusive staff making sure everything stayed stocked. Delicious and pleasant! My room, in tasteful white and pale wood tones, had plenty of space and the bathroom, likewise, a good size with all the amenities and comforts you would want. Honestly, I have no notes for anything that needed fixing or tweaking - this hotel did everything right on my June 2026 visit.
