The Shell Resort & Spa Phu Quoc did not live up to its 5-star rating during my stay. Even with a premium ocean-view room booked months ahead and also arranged an airport pickup, so the resort knew exactly when we would arrive and should have had the room prepared. The room was not properly cleaned or maintained—hair everywhere, stained outdoor furniture, a cracked tub, and outdated interiors. It took far too long to reach a manager, and when I finally did. I loved this property. As a solo female traveler, I felt very comfortable and safe. The Ocean Front Villa was peaceful and embodied light and relaxation. The spa was excellent and fulfilling. I even spotted monkeys while looking out at the water during breakfast. I highly recommend this place!

The room was clean and tidy, but the flooring looked old and had stain marks. The handheld shower was not working properly. If you are a solo traveller, the staff are generally not attentive, especially at the breakfast restaurant. The gym equipment was also not clean.

Nice staffs and surprisingly complementary lunch. The coffee workshop was also impressed
