“We stayed one night to see Bruce Springsteen in Sunderland. Didn’t get time to use the hotel facilities as we were running late but what we did see and experience was very good, clean and tidy. “Amazing hotel in an historic building which is beautifully maintained! It is an architectural treasure. It was built in the 19th century as the City Council Chambers and has fabulous stained glass, tilework and woodwork. The dining room is an architect's dream - originally the council chambers. Our room was so incredible, I could have stayed here for months. Restaurant was delicious and the staff in this hotel were very good. ”

“Fantastic place when stopping maybe for a night or two. Ideal walkable location to city centre and all main attractions. Parking on site. Great sized room with a huge walk in shower. No food available due to our check in time which was ok, great information leaflet in room means we got a takeaway delivered and chilled out in our room. “Beautiful parkland and excellent room and facilities - we enjoyed the spa and gym too. The gym was well supplied with machines and weights. All the staff were friendly and helpful and catered for a number of special requests. A shame we were there on a Monday night when the Orangery restaurant was not open as we would like to have tried it. Would definitely recommend.”

“We were initially given a room on the first floor, but on returning after going for a meal, we were asked to move, to a room on the ground floor. After five minutes we were asked to move again to the first floor, next to our original room!. The receptionist was very apologetic. We think the bathroom needs updating, it has a shower over the bath, but no hand rails, so getting in and out, can be difficult, as there is nothing to hold on to.”

“The car park was clean ,on entering we were greeted by a friendly team ,booking in was fast and easy ,the whole hotel was clean and easy to navigate. A great night's sleep for the family no noise ,a great shower in the morning . “Hotel was fine. Very central. Room was on the 3rd floor and after reading reviews about the lift not working I was thinking we would need to climb three flights but lift was working.
