“The hotel was clean and very tidy. It sits right in front of the ocean and in front of one of the few public moai sites. It is incredible to watch the sunsets there. When I had questions or issues, the office was relatively quick to respond. The showers on the island have heaters. So I turned the pressure down on the shower a bit to make the hot water last longer. It takes about two minutes for hot water to return once it is used up. We did a two day tour through the property including a sunrise trip and couldn’t have been happier. “If you don’t mind staying a bit outside Hanga Roa, then Hostal Pukao is a great option. It’s quiet and rustic. We traveled during the shoulder season so it was especially quiet, with roosters the only real noise. The walk into town is easy — almost all downhill. Coming back at day’s end was uphill on a full stomach so that’s something to consider, but we never minded. There’s a small market down the street and a communal kitchen on the premises.
