"room clean, but rug old and worn, Lots of weeds even blocking room location signs and water wheel, Never had an on the floor air conditioner with a tube going out the window before. Unit was loud so I didnt use it completely detracted from the charm of the room. didnt sleep well either. Breakfast basket sandwich didnt have a top. The Inn and grounds have nice possibilities, but needs better care. Staff friendly."
"Other than the fact I thought the rooms were a little overpriced, I thought the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Lisa at the front desk. The suite 228 was very nicely laid out, even with a privacy curtain between the rooms. The lodge even offered a nicely designed and good quality sweatshirt of which I bought one. My only complaint, which I forgot to tell them upon checking out was that one of the wood Venetian blinds was broken and let too much light in early in the morning as it could not be put down all the way. I am sure they will fix this once they see this review though. I will be coming back to stay in the future. In addition, there is a good separately owned breakfast restaurant right next to the property with fresh made bakery items as well."
"Such a quaint property close to Mt rainier entrance. Fun little cafe shop inside as well for ice cream and breakfast / lunch items.
Friendly employees too!"
"Staff were very kind and helpful, room was clean. No elevator nor offer of lifting heavy luggage to the second floor. No breakfast ... which they say has not happened in the past 4 years. Was very close to the park and bonus was seeing a group of 15-20 elk just down from the lodging."
"We had a *wonderful* stay 💜. Every member of the team we interacted with was friendly and helpful, several gave us great suggestions for activities and poi to visit when they spoke with us and definitely helped make the family vacation memorable. The stairs to the upper floor were a little steep, however, we did not mention we had family with mobility challenges until after we'd arrived, so that one is on us. And once we did mention it, we were given great suggestion on trails and places to visit that accommodated people with mobility issues. 10/10 we will be back 💜"
"I had an overall pleasant stay at the Gateway Inn in Ashford, Washington. One of the biggest advantages of this property is its location—being right near the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park makes it incredibly convenient for anyone planning to explore the area. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and really adds to the experience. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
There were a few drawbacks, however. The room we stayed in had a noticeable slant to the floor, which was a little unusual and took some getting used to. The internet service was also spotty at times, although the hotel does disclose this ahead of time, so it wasn't entirely unexpected given the location. Additionally, there were no TV channels available during our stay, which may be disappointing for guests looking to relax indoors after a day of exploring.
That said, if your main goal is to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Rainier and stay close to the park entrance, Gateway Inn is a convenient option with friendly service and a great setting. Just be prepared for a few rustic quirks that come with staying in such a remote and scenic area."
"Cabin and outdoors were very clean. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. The only y negative was using the worn out cooking utensils. Buy some new pots and pans and measuring cups."
