This 12th century basaltic temple devoted to Lord Shiva was built during the Kadamba period and has survived a very violent destructive religious intolerance. It's located deep inside the vast Bhagwan Mahaveer wildlife sanctuary and is a quaint peaceful place to visit.

"Amazing stay for a week. We were treated like family by the entire staff and everything from food to amenities were top notch. A special thanks to the entire staff in the restaurant to the reception to the gym/pool/spa for making our stay outstanding and memorable. "Unfortunately when we arrived no one seemed to be expecting us and there was confusion and a lack of communication. The room wasn’t ready and although made up quickly there were things missing requiring several calls to housekeeping. The hotel is lovely on a gorgeous sandy beach and the gardens are beautifully kept. Breakfast was good. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as there are some excellent places to eat nearby. Overall I’d give the hotel an 8/10"
