The room that we stayed was newly renovated. With 4 single beds that had flexibility to be arranged, we loved the space. Just be aware that this room was not wheelchair friendly as there were 2 steps to the bathroom. Overall, we enjoyed the stay

I recommend Genjikoh for the amazing Japanese experience of enjoying the open bath overlooking the ocean and the various activities in the hotel such as the scent workshop. We booked a room for 5 and it was spacious and was pleasantly surprised it has 2 toilets. The sea view was breathtaking. We don’t book the meals as we don’t eat raw food but we had difficulty finding a good eatery outside as there are few amenities nearby and they close early. This place is great for those who drive but inaccessible otherwise even though the hotel has a shuttle bus. We are glad we had a rental car and could enjoy this great ryokan experience!

The most hospitable staff, especially the Japanese front desk staff! The rooms are well maintained, although I am not a fan of the strange, bouncy "tatami" floors (and the small dead roach in the bathroom area was a bit shocking). I love the drinks lounge with the gachagacha capsule machines. The meals were amazing and fun!
