"This is a 3 star hotel, rooms and bathrooms should be renovated but most importantly the property should have a back up plan for energy cuts. we had a terrible night with no AC due to electricity problems and the property has no back up plan for such an emergency. On the positive side, breakfast is good and the access to the beach is a plus versus other hotels in the area."

Waking up and having a beautifully arranged breakfast delivered and set afloat in your own private pool, surrounded by jungle and Pacific air, is an experience that is genuinely difficult to put into words. It is indulgent, it is romantic, and it is the kind of memory you carry home with you. Non-negotiable. From the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out, every single member of the staff treated us like family. They team went above and beyond, not just in service, but in genuine hospitality. They took the time to share local recommendations that turned into some of our favorite memories of the trip. Jennifer and Nubia delivered one of the most relaxing and beautifully executed massages we’ve ever had. The golf cart team, those guys were exceptional. They made sure we didn’t miss a single animal on the property. A heartfelt thank you to the housekeeping team for keeping our room immaculate every single day. That level of consistency and care does not go unnoticed. To the owner: bravo. The architectural design, the attention to detail, the seamless blend of luxury and nature — it is clear that every inch of Makanda was designed with intention and love. "The room had cockroaches, it was not clean at all. The bed board was very dirty and let’s not even talk about the bathroom. Very disappointed. Food was not good neither were the drinks. Honestly, not worth it at all. Bathroom towels were dirty."

"Aside from the owners son screaming and yelling all day, by the pool, on one of the days the stay was nice. The food was delicious and the staff was very nice and helpful. Very quiet and peaceful with the one exception. Close to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. The hotel had bikes for use as well as umbrellas. We did enjoy our stay overall."

"This hotel is amazing! Courteous and helpful staff greet you, including a resident cat. Breakfast is good with an outstanding view. Make sure to watch the sunset or the monkeys by the bar. Pool is a perfect place to cool off and relax. Restaurant serves fresh seafood and other offerings. The location is off the main road a bit so it is quiet yet accessible."
