The chestnut Lodge we stayed in was wonderful The staff was very friendly and helpful and accommodating. My needs. The food was great and the view was even better. Would come back here again.
The Chestnut Lodge accommodations were nice. They had a Keurig in the room. The rooms were clean, and spacious. Beautiful views and very relaxing place. We enjoyed dining at the library and hanging out in the main stone lodge lobby area. We also done a private tour of all the scene film locations to the movie Dirty Dancing.
Room clean but dated
Staff very helpful and proud
Expensive hotel compare to others in areas but paying for dirty dancing movie experience
Very very clean hotel and grounds
First time visitors to the lodge. We went for their 4th of July fireworks show. Hands down, best show I believe I’ve ever seen. We stayed in the Chestnut lodge, located about a 3 minute walk to the main lodge, it was very clean and had a nice porch facing the forest. It was a wonderful stay. We will return and maybe one day we will get to see the lake come back.
Very peaceful atmosphere, clean rooms and well maintained property. We had issues with the ac control and the food wasn’t that great but overall was a wonderful experience and we look forward to our next visit. Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff, we appreciate your hospitality!
You will just need to work around bits of construction here and there while areas are upgraded or maintained. And while we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, we found that the trail map left too much to the imagination and should be redone. We would recommend a stay in this historic resort and trust that the updates will be finalized soon.
Staff were so available and friendly

Property so beautiful, well maintained. 22miles of walking trails, beautiful clean pools.
Of course if youre a dirty dancing fan, theres such a special vibe yo the experience!
We very much enjoyed our stay at the lodge but did have a couple of concerns worth sharing. The staff was generally friendly and helpful as we needed ice for my wife's medicine to stay cold and the ice machine in the lodge was failing for the time that we were there and staff provided it from the kitchen. The room was clean however many other parts of the lodge were lacking in that regard. The window sills adjacent to the tables out on the balcony must not have been cleaned for weeks at best and is a good example. The service at the restaurant was decent however both days we stayed the breakfast was delayed from opening and not all of the food options were ready. It was almost like staff was too late each day to be ready to open. The iconic parts of the hotel were very well marked and very well kept and that is essentially what made the stay worth it.
Fantastic place- it’s just beautiful. Very clean, super comfy beds and great staff. We happened to be there during the recent snow storm. Staff was amazing! They went above and beyond to scrape our car the next morning. Would love to visit again in summer for all of their activities.
We enjoyed the friendly environment, the scavenger hunt, and hikes!
The AC did not work in room but we put available fan by window and it cooled down quickly.
We ate meals at the lodge, I do recommend the delicious pork chop, meatloaf, biscuits with gravy.. We also enjoyed trying out more unique dishes such as frog legs and dandelion salad!
We primarily came for a massage at the spa and that did not disappoint!!
Would definitely come back for future for a low key, quiet, quaint getaway!
Beautiful location and great staff. We enjoyed walking the grounds for the Dirty Dancing history.

I didn’t end up staying at the lodge. About an hour before arriving, I finally read the full description for the Main Stone Lodge and realized the rooms do not have air conditioning or televisions. After traveling eight hours in 97 degree heat, that was a rough discovery. I stopped at the reservation desk to confirm; the rooms have fans and WiFi, but no AC or TVs. I could have gone without a TV, but no AC was a deal breaker—especially since the person traveling with me was absolutely unwilling to stay without it. They do offer other lodging options that include AC and TVs.
In hindsight, I should have at least checked the room. It’s possible the temperature would have been tolerable. Because I didn’t stay, I can’t give a fair rating on cleanliness, amenities, or comfort.
What I can say is that the view was absolutely gorgeous—truly breathtaking.
Another thing I didn’t consider, once you’re up at the lodge, you’re really there. It’s several miles up the mountain from the main road, and the surrounding area doesn’t offer much. My partner and I enjoy sports bars and exploring the local scene, and that simply isn’t practical. The lodge has three dining options, but driving back down to the main road for alternatives wasn't realistic for us.
All that said, I would return during autumn. I imagine the foliage would be spectacular.
**I made my reservation through a 3rd party, per the lodge’s policy, you must pay $20/day to park. The 3rd party should have disclosed that to me.
