We had an excellent stay at hotel Emaus. Staff were super friendly. They didn't speak a lot of English, but they were super patient with our limited Spanish and we got to improve our language skills.
The room was spacious and full of character, the beds were super firm, comfortable and did not squeak or have loose headboards. The shower took a while to heat up but had a lot of pressure which is a rare luxury in South America in my experience.
Breakfast was a la carte, but plentiful and varied enough that we didn't have the same thing twice over our 4 day stay. It was also hearty and delicious and had that home made quality to it that you crave after a few days traveling.
The location was great - an interesting and safe neighborhood filled with high end restaurants, dessert spots and brunch places. It's not near the touristy area of La Candelaria but it gives you a taste of how the upper middle crust lives.
Overall highly recommended!
