I have been staying at this hotel for 24 years- it has never been better. The staff are delightful, helpful and very professional. The food excellent and the pool setting is the best in Yangon.

It's easy to stay at a generic box type hotel.
The Strand has pedigree (See Raffles and E&O). It's a beautiful building with high ceilings. Beautifully decorated and clean. Very pleasant staff. Quiet and tranquil.
Stay here for your first visit to Yangon, and you can always stay at a generic, branded hotel on a subsequent visit.

Definitely would recommend to anyone travelling to Yangon. My only issue was with the clothes stores. There were lots but they sold a lot of the same things.
