The room was in need of repair and major updating, the sink and toilet were stained, power points were behind bulky furniture so hard to use, wallpaper and carpet were stained, I am surprised that I was put in there and made to pay full price for it!

Family time in b’mouth
The hotel is very comfortable, albeit a little tired. The rooms were fine, very large.. not many facilities in the room but ample..the hotel was very hot inside which was a bit uncomfortable.. staff very friendly but they did make a few mistakes on billing etc, however these were quickly rectified. Gym facilities were nice as were the pools.. food served was of good quality but obviously hotel prices. I’d certainly use this hotel again.. good tea making stuff in the room, but I’d have liked a small fridge.. shower facilities were good although in my room it was a bit difficult to turn the shower full off..

Pleasant enough stay
The suite we had was huge, so no complaints regarding space. It did, however, have a moth problem! We wondered why a mini fridge had been put on the carpet, next to the door, as it was out of place. Well my daughter went to put some drinks in it & came back screaming about flying bugs. I went to see & found lots of baby moths moving around. I moved the fridge & it had been covering a large moth eaten patch of carpet! I managed to 'get rid' of all the moths! When I discussed it with the lady on reception she seemed oblivious to the situation. Considering the size of the damaged piece of carpet, the issue had been there for a long time! Aside from that, the whole room could benefit from being redecorated & the mattresses were rock hard, but the bathroom was lovely & we had a wonderful seaview. Breakfast was ok, but I'm glad it was included in the price as it wasn't worth what was charged. One very good point though was about the lack of noise! There were 2 Christmas parties being held on both nights of our stay & we didn't hear a peep from any of them! We were on the 3rd floor, right by the lift, but still we didn't hear any music or anyone staggering to bed, which makes me think they purposely put us away from any party goers that may have been staying in the hotel! The hotel pool, albeit small, was lovely & warm & my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent in it! Overall I would stay here again, just not in that suite & I wouldn't bother with breakfast!

Lovely stay
Had a great time at this lovely hotel. Ok maybe needs a little update but the place is charming. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and work hard to make your stay a great experience. The breakfast was great and such a variety. Will definitely be staying again. Thanks so much.

Really lovely hotel, perfect stay!
The hotel was lovely. We had a nice big room, with a beautiful seaview. The bed was very comfortable & we had breakfast brought to the room, which was a lovely start to our day. We used the swimming pool, which was warm. The swimming pool area was very run down, lots of chipped paint, but the area was useable. Really lovely stay, will be staying again later in the year.

Very nice but a bit scruffy in the bedrooms
Bedroom was beautiful because of the view of the sea, the balconey, the size of the rooms, they were huge because we were in a suite and even the bathroom was huge. For the price I was suprised how scruffy the carpets, paintwork soap dispensers were and the inside pool and jacuzzi were closed. Staff were really lovely both on reception and int he restaurant. Would recommend new carpets in the bedrooms and a quick paintjob on the doors to make it value for money..

Ok, but need work in the hotel
Weather and location were great, our booking wasnt in their computer records, so the romm wasnt ready until late. Very long queue at reception and seemed under staffed. The place needs a lot of TLC. The breakfast was good.

Lovely hotel but a little run down with torn wall paper etc. Love the view and the service. Too bad the pools were out of function since that was one of the reasons we booked.

The hotel is tired and in need of renovation. Old tired hotel room furniture, carpets, walls and ceilings cracked. £20 a night to park. Not a great stay.

Disappointing. Main pool closed .
The outdoor pool was closed for our entire stay - which was extremely disappointing as this was the main reason for choosing this hotel. Indoor pool was only open for half our stay as well.

We were very dissapointed with this hotel .curtains were threadbare .furniture was old and shabby.carpets a little dirty .common areas filthy unkept .staircases were so dusty and dirty .bathroom very dated and patched up.shabby gym .outdoor pool was out of action the whole stay and the jaccusi wasnt working sunday .all a little sad as we chose the carlton for the swimming facilities.

Parking was easy, with enough parking spaces, £10 a day was more than expected. reception was informative and pleasant. Having a lift in the hotel made it easy to get to our room with luggage. We were very happy with our room which was the superior room with sea view overlooking the outdoor pool. Breakfast was tasty with a relaxing atmosphere, and staff happy to help with any inquiries. Clean and tidy all around building. A nice all around experience.

It was an okay stay. The rooms a bit outdated. The swimming pool a little dirty. We stayed in a family room and there wasn’t any lift going there so had to use the stairs with buggy, bags, kids. Was not convenient.

Shower!! Main shower from wall to have warm water after two minutes it would stop! Unable to use!!! Hand shower unable to keep at a constant temperature cold or scolding. Unable to Shower !! Not happy.

Restaurant excellent food and service. Check in before 4pm impossible. Bathroom nice but shower head blocked, about 4minute jets - CLEAN! Decalsify. Black mould in bath sealant. A spray of bleach daily and it will be gone. Other than that a very pleasant stay.

Staff were helpful, but hotel is starting to looks its age. Rooms basic but clean, furniture and bathroom looking very tired and could do with a refurb/upgrade.

Dog friendly stay
Hotel rooms need updating for the price we paid. Low water pressure on the shower, broken bathroom tiles, air con wasn't very cool. The sauna was out of order. The staff are a credit to the hotel. They were lovely and accommodating to our dog. Would stay again.

The room was large, beds comfortable, however there was confetti on the floor obviously from the previous guests. A rip in the wallpaper on the wall. I didn’t complain as 49 years ago I worked in this hotel as a chambermaid, so didn’t want to get anyone into trouble. It’s not changed much since then ☺️, 5 star then, now 3 Could do with a bit of modernisation. Staff were lovely
