We liked quiet spot with water front views. Room's we're quirky and open, but would have appreciated air conditioning and WiFi extender to the room. Also no coffee available 24/7. This would be nice. And mistakes made with invoicing in hotels favour with no apology

Das Al Faro Cosmio Hotel ist eine Unterkunft mit herausragendem Service und einem besonderen Flair. Die Zimmer sind als Bungalows gestaltet, die an einem steilen Hang verteilt und von vielen tropischen Pflanzen umgeben sind. Die Fenster der Bungalows sind nicht verglast, sondern haben nur ein grobmaschiges Gitter, sodass es keine Klimaanlage und nur einen Ventilator gibt. Durch einen angenehmen Durchzug vom Meer her kann man aber dennoch sehr gut schlafen und die Ufo-artigen Bungalows schaffen eine einzigartige Atmosphäre im Hotel. Die Angestellten sind sehr zuvorkommend und haben uns mit Namen angesprochen; es gibt nur ca. 12 Zimmer, sodass das Hotel nie voll wirkt. Zum Hotel gelangt man nur per Boot, der Transfer auf das Festland ist aber jederzeit möglich und kostenlos. Da sich rund um den Anlegesteg am Festland nur ein weiteres Café befindet, ist man de facto zu jeder Zeit auf das Hotelrestaurant angewiesen. Auch bei der Fahrt vom/zum Flughafen hat man praktisch keine andere Möglichkeit, als den Flughafentransfer von 2,000 PHP zu wählen. Die Preise des Hotelrestaurants sind zwar unter europäischem Preisniveau, aber doch 2-3x so teuer wie das normale philippinische Preisniveau in Restaurants und Cafés auf der Insel. Als Gast sollte man sich dessen bewusst sein und ein ausreichend großes Budget für den Aufenthalt im Al Faro Hotel einplanen - uns hat diese Situation etwas überrascht, aber dem Genuss des Aufenthalts keinen Abbruch getan.

Amazing place with an increadible view. Relaxing and calming place you dont want to leave again. Professional and very kind staff always ready to assist and help. Al Faro has a lot of soul and you can feel the passion for makeing it an unforgetteble experience to visit.

Unique rooms and stunning views.

Had a wonderful stay. Perfect place just to relax after a busy 2 weeks travelling the Philippines. Highly recommend it if you are fine without some luxuries like airco - the very unique rooms and views to die for make up for it through and through. As anywhere in the Philippines - the most wonderfully and friendly staff ready to assist with anything.

Our 4th visit

We have stayed Al Faro 4 times now and always found it to be excellent in every way. The staff are all extremely friendly, welcoming and efficient. The hilltop position is stunning and the pool fabulous. Food is always very good and varied. Being picked up and dropped off by speedboat always makes it special too. Rooms are very comfortable and have stunning views.

La localisation de l hôtel avec une vue à couper le souffle. Le personnel très aimable et attentionnée. Les excursions au depart de l hotel est un plus. Le service de restauration est excellent, on mange tres bien. Les chambres sont belles. Pour obtenir ces privilèges un seul bémol une montee un difficile.

Great for a getaway

We spent 3 days first in Al Faro then 3 days in the town and were suprised by the stark contrast between the two. The former can be a little quiet, if you seeking to relax and admire the beautiful views, but can be too boring as you are isolated. The latter is chaotic and dirty but you have more access to services and attractions in the area, bar/ restaurants, bank, boats, hot spring etc.

Lovely setting

Great range of excursions available. Really enjoyed the snorkelling. Views of sunset are unsurpassable. Food cooked well. Friendly and helpful staff. Could do with slightly more communal space around the pool/bar/restaurant if large groups staying, but veranda by bungalow helps make up for that. Very popular location with plenty of people choosing to spend an evening there even if they’re not residents.

Très bel hotel avec une superbe vue. Service impecable et ils organisent des excursions pour le island hopping. 2 points négatifs a apporter: La localisation: il faut savoir que pour accéder à l'hotel il faut impérativement les contacter car le seul moyen est par la mer. Le prix des boissons et repas: beaucoup trop cher.. ils se rattrapent sur le fait qu'ils sont isolés et du coup augmentent le prix des consommations. A cela, il faut encore rajouter 7% de service charge.

Beautiful scenery, friendly staff, few amentities

My husband and I visited Al Faro for one weekend. The island was beautiful and the staff were friendly and accommodating but there were fewer amenities than we expected: WiFi was only turned on from 6 am to 10 pm and available only in the dining area, no air conditioning, no hot water, and no conditioner (shampoo only). When the WiFi was on, we still had trouble connecting. Overall, it was a nice, relaxing weekend but we would have enjoyed it more if we knew what to expect. Also, expect to spend a lot of money once you do arrive at the hotel - you can visit nearby islands during the day but it cost about $40 a trip, exclusive of island fees and meals. There isn't anything walkable around the hotel either so the only food option was at the hotel. It's also useful to know that you can settle your bill with credit card but they add a 3% fee.

Bel hôtel très calme mais situé tout en haut d une colline qu'il faut grimper à pieds.... Pas évident pour tous. Vue magnifique mais piscine avec eau trouble pendant tout notre séjour. On ne voyait pas nos pieds dans 1,20 d'eau. Notre récupération au port a été oubliée et nous avons dû attendre plus d une heure en pleine chaleur avec notre fille de 3 ans après 4h de bateau. La nourriture au restaurant est basique et plus chère qu ailleurs. La chose la plus folle, que je n ai jamais vu dans tous les hôtels que J ai fait, c est qu'il faut aller demander à la réception à chaque fois que l on veut de l eau chaude pour la douche.... Incroyable. Personnel très sympathique mais il manque très nettement un responsable pour répudier à toutes ces contraintes pour que cela soit top !

Beautiful hotel with stunning views. Room with separate terrace with day beds and hammock was brilliant. Great food and staff. Lovely pool and massage area. Nothing we didn’t like but it would be good to have some flat sun beds around as well as the shaped ones? Would also have been nice if the bar could have stayed open later.

Little pearl with beautiful sunsets

Very beautiful small resort with pool in well kept hilly garden area. The swiss owner is a little atrist with a sence of unorthodox architecture. He and his staff is very helpful and friendly. They use solar panels to produce electricity, so it's not enought to run aircons or TV. But end of February there was always a cool brise at night. Good food at the restaurant. Close by you'll find the best snorkelling in Coron area: Beautiful Pass island and Lusong coral garden. Boat costs 3000 pesos for more than 2 people, 2500 pesos if you are alone or 2. There are Kayaks,, free for guests. Take them to explore the nearby wreked waterplane ore the mangroves. You'll stay on a hilly peninsula far away from Coron: So don't expect any nightlife, be satisfied with the sunset and the calm of nature. Only disadvantage are the noisy fisherboats leaving the bay in early morning.
