Nice hotel and staff is friendly but was charged double for a breakfast that wasn’t even worth paying anything for. Spoke to two different people about being charged twice and they were not helpful and the overcharge was never fixed.

This is a great hotel overall… very different and unique. The staff was wonderful too. My only critique would be the breakfast…it could be improved. But other than that it was a great experience !

Great location in downtown Rome on the river. Plenty of amenities, unique rooms (eg, high ceilings from building’s historic use), and very convenient to both downtown and Berry College.

It is an old manufacturing plant that was converted. Wish they had pictures of it before they converted it to a hotel.

This is what hotels used to offer! Such a great ambiance with some old times flare! This hotel has a lot to offer! The location cannot be beat! The staff were extremely friendly. The breakfast was delicious. So many rooms to hang out in if you don’t want to hang out in your own room or are meeting friends. The room was culturally l comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our view of the river. The building has quite a bit of history. Lots of little touches in the room and beautiful, rich decor.

Check in was the best I have ever had very knowledgeable and efficient. Lots of dining opportunities with in walking distance. They have loaner bikes if you care to go for a ride which I did.

This is a beautiful hotel! Staff were friendly. We could walk to many restaurants & bars. There is also an on-site bar. Pet friendly!

It was old and traditional with a close distance to the downtown area. It was also old enough to wear part of the room was slanted.

While the room was clean and comfortable, the shower had the lowest pressure I have ever seen. Which may have been a blessing because I saw a story on how Rome has an issue with PFAS chemicals in their water from the paper / carpet mills. The bathroom could use more shelving and hooks for towels and wash cloths. The Breakfast was a great value at $7 a plate. Typical buffet fare. However, the turkey sausage was AWFUL! Has a "Plastic" taste to it. Other than that, I'd stay there again.

Nancy,Just wanted to be clear about our water - the city of Rome no longer draws water from the Oostanala River and has moved to draw all water from the Etowah. The water from the Etowah River is clean and has never been tainted. On top of that all of our water is always treated and safe to use while our guest at Hawthorn. We just wanted to clear that for you! Appreciate your concern and feedback. Happy 2024.

I’ve stayed twice this year and both times I have nothing but good things to say. Staff is nice and helpful and the downtown area is right there with great restaurant and entertainment options

Excellent location and rustic design to fit right in with downtown Rome. Some plants were wilted, but it's probably just the recent cold. Rooms and common areas were clean and the staff was very friendly.

I feel like the price was a little high, considering the fact your facility was older. Walls were too thin (our neighbors TV was right by our bed, we figured out, and they stayed up very late!).

Ok stay
So the hotel is gorgeous- but the staff we met were only ok. Front desk was chilly. Watching the restaurant wait staff argue who was going to serve us was interesting. (It was two of us hardly a difficult table) Breakfast staff was friendliest we encountered. Hotel otherwise lovely, room was spacious and comfortable.

Just wonderful..
The building is a gem. Unbelievably atmospheric inside, with everything done to a high standard. Great attention to detail in everything. The staff are exemplary….engaged, friendly, efficient and utterly decent people. The bar/restaurant is welcoming, warm and attractive, and reasonably priced. The suites are of varying sizes; ours was a King Suite, which was big, internally quiet, (the road outside is noisy, so you may wish to have a room looking towards the town) and comfortable. The kitchens in the suites have everything you could possibly need. The ground floor public rooms are comfortable, welcoming, characterful and quiet. You are guaranteed a very memorable stay here, and I can’t recommend it more highly. The management are doing a magnificent job.

The historic property was not as well maintained as I would have expected. We had a chair in our room that was very thread bare and extremely sagging floors . It was very conveniently located to walk to downtown restaurants and stores.
